Short Term Disability?

I am so kicking myself right now! I meant to get short term disability a while ago before TTC but the 2 companies I contacted told me they didnt offer individual, that it would have to go through my company and then tried to get me to help them talk to HR about their programs Anyway, now Im PG am wondering if it's too late. Does anyone have short term individually and what are the restrictions. If I got it now would I not be eligible for PG benefits until like yr after or something? Please help!

No matter what you'll still get nys disability which is 170 a week but additional short term disability which usually covers anywhere from 40-80 percent of weekly salary, no its too late to sign up for that bc you are already pregnant

Depends - at my company - you can only opt for it during open enrollment AND it is through them by Prudential and Prudentials rule is, you are not eligible to use your STD for pregnancy unless it is one year after enrollment.

We have Aflac and their "rule" is that you must have the STD in effect for at least 30 days BEFORE conceiving - in other words, you must have your STD active for at least 10 months before you can qualify for STD.

I believe that you can get Aflac individually but I believe that the rates are more expensive than if you did it with a group like your employer.

I know that for AFLAC you have to have had the coverage at least 10 months before the birth of the baby- in order to get benefits from it while on maternity leave.

Not sure about others.
