Co-Sleeping?
What are your thoughts?
I'm reading the Baby Bargains book, and it really only suggests one co-sleeper product (Arm's Reach).
DH and I were looking at the Summer Infant Rest Assured Sleeper (pic below), but it's not mentioned at all in Baby Bargains. I was really hoping it would be in there so I would know whether or not to leave it on my registry.
It has great reviews from moms who own it, but I just want to be absolutely sure it's "safe". The mesh sides are breathable and it has strong barriers so that (it says) there's no danger of rolling onto the baby, God forbid.
I'm just nervous... what do you think? Image Attachment(s):

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I registered for one. Mostly because I plan to breast feed...so we figure better to have one than not to. I registered for a different one though. I don't really intend for her to sleep with us. But with breastfeeding in the middle of the night, etc.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
Does it go in bed with you? If so, it looks like it would take up a lot of room. I had the arms reach co-sleeper and really liked it since it gave baby his own space, but I could reach in and touch him, but he wasn't taking up any space in my bed.
I guess this one looks safe. What are your concerns?
ETA: Just from reading the post above I will tell you that it is so helpful to just have the baby next to you when you are breastfeeding. You can feed them laying down and then just roll them back into their bed -- much easier than getting up at night.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I had one that I used only for naps. We didn't co-sleep at night but I loved putting my baby down for a nap and then laying in the same bed. I need a lot of rest and was trying to "sleep when the baby sleeps." Those were some of the best times of DS's infancy. We did also have a bassinet but with that I could not see him when I was lying down. I am always surprised when I tell people and they react as if the co-sleeper would be a waste just for naps. I think this was part of the reason that DS got used to sleeping anywhere. The transition from bassinet to crib or from crib to toddler bed was not dramatic. I am even tearing up thinking of the days when he fit in the co-sleeper. BTW, he is not attached to my bed at all now, and doesn't look to sleep with DH and me. He considers our bed to be a great trampoline and it is no longer a sleep place to him. If I can find a photo of what we had I will post it. It was much simpler than the one you are posting. I did not see any like that 3 years ago. It looks nice.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I never got a co-sleeper. We used the pack and play and it worked out just fine. We had DD in our room for 3 months.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I'm breastfeeding but just using the basinnet and it's working out just fine. You're going to have to change the baby when he/she wakes up and then most likely again after the feeding (breastfed babies poop A LOT!) so you will have to get up and out of bed. Plus I have to rock DD to get her to go back to sleep so I have to walk around the room anyway.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
DD2 is 5 months and we have the full size Arm's Reach and also have used the Mini Arm's reach.
Personally, for me, I prefer the full size if you have the room. It can be used longer since it is bigger and the mattress can go on the bottom and be used as a pack n play. I also have the tent (we have cats).
I had a snuggle nest with DD1 similar r to the one in your post and it was a PITA. I much prefer the Arm's Reach.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I didn't bother with a cosleeper with DS.
He was EBFd and either he slept in the bassinet part of the PNP or just directly next to me in bed.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I am not even bringing the baby into our room. Their own crib in their own room from day 1. I'll get up and nurse/feed as need be.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
I think I will be staying downstairs with the babies (playpen) for the first few weeks. Kitchen/bedroom/den, everything we need is down there, plus I will be recovering from a Csection, so it will limit me running up and down.

Re: Co-Sleeping?
Sorry crashing on Pregnancy board. I BF and used the Arms Reach co-sleeper. It was great having the baby next to me, especially when your BF. I was so nervous as a first time mother, and couldn't of imagined the baby in another room for the first few months. I needed to make sure he was breathing a million times a night. Plus, I could just reach out and feed and change him with out leaving the bed. The thing you posted looks like it would take up so much room in your bed. Unless you have a king size, i would skip it. You are already not sleeping good, being uncomfortable is not going to help. This is JMO. You could also use the pack and play bassinet part, if you are already getting it and don't want to buy anything extra. Just a FYI, if you have a high mattress like I do, you will have to buy the extensions for the bottom of co-sleeper to make it taller so it is even with your bed. I switched DS into his crib at 4 months and had no issues. He sleeps great!
