RGEC47 IVF Journal **10/14: NEGATIVE**
IVF Journal History: I am 29 with mild case of PCOS and a history of developing cysts. DH is 33 and has average numbers and no real fertility issues. I was born and raised in lower Westchester County and moved to CT in 2009. We never would have imagined moving out of NY but things happen for a reason. CT passed a fertility mandate in 2005 which demands insurance companies to cover fertility treatments (2 IVF cycles and 3 IUI’s, no $ limit). I went off BCP after 7 years in 2005 and had crazy cycles ever since then was diagnosed with PCOS, Endometriosis and anovulatory cycles. We started TTC in 2008 but finally moved on to more aggressive treatments in 2010, that is where our real journey begins.
Timeline: 07/08: Had laparoscopy surgery to remove 6cm cyst on my right ovary and a 3cm on my left. They also removed as much as possible of my endometriosis (moderate). 08/08: Decided we were going to start TTC as advised by my OBGYN. She was concerned that my cysts would return so suggested if we were thinking of TTC to start right away to avoid time passing giving cysts the chance to develop. 08/08: Started Metformin (1500mg). Reacted very badly to it and decided to stop taking it, Nausea, Headaches, Irritable stomach. Only positive is weight loss. 09/08-4/10: We just “winged” it. Between lay-offs, no insurance, engagement and wedding we figured this would be the best time to just have a “let’s see what happens approach” 04/10: Decided enough was enough and started to be more aggressive. Made consult with OBGYN to start discussing next steps. 06/10: Clomid, 50mg, timed intercourse. Side Effects: Headaches, trails in vision and hot flashes. BFN 07/10: Clomid, 50mg, timed intercourse. BFN 08/10: Clomid, 50mg. Made consult with RE. Another Cyst was found on right ovary, wait for next cycle for possible IUI. 09/10: Clomid, IUI, BFN 10/10: Clomid IUI, BFN. Decided to remove cyst with the hopes of helping production of follicles. 10/10: Laparoscopy, removed 6.4 cm cyst on right ovary, no endometriosis. 12/10: Femera 5mg, Gonal-F 75IU's, IUI, BFN 1/11: Femara 5mg, Gonal-F 150IU’s, timed intercourse, BFN 2/11: Took a break as it seems IVF is our next step. 2/16/11: Saline Ultrasound. Found something lodged in uterus, RE thinks it might be a clot. Need to schedule another one before starting meds. 3/15/11: BFN, AF showed. 3/21/11: 2nd Saline Ultrasound to determine if clot has dislodged and passed. Multiple polyps were found. So now we are scheduled for a Hysteroscopy for 4/7. It seems that with every appt there is something new that gets in the way. We will not know until the day of surgery if we will move foward with IVF or if we will have to skip this month. I am just drained. 4/7/11: Hysteroscopy went well. My RE found more than he expected but thankfully they all came out easily. The procedure was not bad at all, I went in at 8:30 and was home by 12:30. The worst part was the medicine they gave me to start dialiting the night before, lots of cramps, primarily in my abdomin.
Unfortunately, no IVF this month. My RE wants me to contact him next month, after my lining has had a chance to heal. So another month off.
This is so overwhelming to see it written out like this.

2nd Attempt to Start IVF
We took a break from April to Sept, best thing we did for us. But we're back in it now, and in it to win it.
9/1/11: CD3 Bloodwork, no U/S. Test results came back normal, levels look good. Day 1 of BCP.
9/7/11: 3rd Saline Ultrasound
UPDATE: ALL CLEAR!!!
So we are officially starting IVF!!!!!! Doc says everything looks great. That persistant cyst on my right ovary is still there, so I am realistically working with one ovary. Doc is very optimistic as he was able to count 13 follies under 10
I was given my protocol, so all dates are tentative but at least we have a plan in action.
9/11/11 – 9/15-11 BCP Lupron 10 Units for 10 days Baby Aspirin Final BCP – Day 15
9/15/11: IVF Teach Class. Very helpful and informative. I highly recommend everyone take this, if itis available.
9/19/11: MONITORING DAY #1!!!! Everything looks great. Lining is at 6 which is thicker than it has been in awhile, the Clomid did a number on my lining. We have 12 follies under 10 on the left. On my crazy right ovary (the one with the stubborn cyst that won’t go away), we have 5 under 10. I have never developed any follies on the right. I am not taking any hard core stims so maybe it is my body helping us out. So excited, we start stims tomorrow!!!
Lupron 10 Units Blood work & Ultrasound
9/20/11 – 9/30/11 Baby Aspirin Lupron 5 Units Gonal 225 Menopur 75 Units Dexamethasone .5mg, ½ tab
9/23/11: MONITORING DAY #2 No real major update. I have 14 follies under 10 on left ovary, but the follies that were growing on the right have stopped growing, all under 5. So now we are back to working with one ovary. Great! No change in meds and I go back for monitoring on Monday.
Meds:
Baby Aspirin Lupron 5 Units Gonal 225 Menopur 75 Units Dexamethasone .5mg, ½ tab 9/26/11: MONITORING DAY #3 We are moving along nicely. I have 13 follies on the left, ranging from 13-16, and lining is up at 9! The left ovary is trying to produce follies, we have 4 around 14-15, so you never know. As of right now we have retrieval scheduled for 9/30 .
MEDS: Doxycycline 100mg (Edwin), twice a day until retrieval Baby Aspirin Lupron 5 Units Gonal 225 Menopur 75 Units Dexamethasone .5mg, ½ tab
9/28/11: MONITORING DAY #4 It is confirmed, trigger tonight and retrieval on Friday @ 8:30am. I am kind of nervous as my follies are ranging from 12-18; 4 of which range 16-18, lining is at 8. I thought they should all be around the same size, but now concerned that they will not all mature and will only have around 4 mature follies. Praying that there will be enough viable eggs retrieved.
MEDS: Doxycycline 100mg (Edwin), twice a day until retrieval Baby Aspirin Dexamethasone .5mg, ½ tab HCG Trigger 10K
9/30/11: EGG RETRIEVAL
We got 26 eggs I am SO surprised, excited, nervous, grateful, I mean every emotion possible, really. We never thought we could get that many, given that I have one fully functional ovary. But the right one came through and provided 5 eggies. Praying that we got a lot of good quality eggs, and hoping for a great fert report tomorrow.
I feel sore and bloated, bur not too bad. My RE advised to take it easy, he is afraid of ohss.
Baby Aspirin Medrol 16mg for 5 days Doxycycline 100mg, 2x a day for 5 days Endometrin
10/1/11: UPDATE: 100% FERTILIZED!!!!! Wejust got the call, all 26 eggs fertilized. I don't even know what to say or feel, really.

10/2/11 UPDATE: EMBRYO PROGRESS & TRANSFER SCHEDULED!!
We received the call and our embies are doing great. All are progressing and splitting nicely. The embryologist is happy with the results, so as of right now we have:
14 - 4 cell grade 1 embies 11 - 4 cell grade 2 1 - 4 cell grade 3.
We are scheduled for transfer on Wed, Day 5. We are s excited, things are finally coming together. After 3 years of nothing but heartache and stress, it seems that our dream is closer than ever.
Endometrin (suppository) Doxycycline Estrace Medrol
10/5/11: TRANSFER COMPLETE!!!!
We are trasnferring 2 embies today @ 12:30. I am so overwhelmed with emotion, so nervous, anxious, excited, I din't sleep at all last night. So if my lovey ladies wouldn't mind, send some prayers and extra sticky dust our way. I will update after transfer.
UPDATE: We arrived to the clinic at 12:30, and was prepped and ready for transfer at 12:50, legs in the air and all. We transferred 2 embies, 4 grade AB, 4 grade BB. I thought that by day 5 they should be 8 cell, but he assured us that we could not ask for better embies, so if he is ok with it, so are we. We had a little trouble with one embie. The troublemaker (convinced it is form Edwin's side of the family) decided to stay in the catheder, so we had to do redo the transfer to make sure both go in.
I am home resting and planning on doing a thing, yes, I am milking it. Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes.
So without further ado, here are the future (god willing) Campos
10/14/11: BETA DAY!!!
