Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
How did it go for you? I am supposed to start DS by doing half formula half whole milk to transition him, but I am worried it is going to bother his belly. Obviously, he is on SS for a reason and couldn't handle the regular formula, I hope this is not going to bother him???

Re: Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
I had the same thing with my DD. When she was one, my dr recommended a mix of the sensitive formula and whole milk. Since she drank 6 ounces of formula, the first day, she got 1 ounce of whole milk and 5 ounces of formula, then the second day ...2 ounces of milk and 4 ounces of formula...and so on until the sixth day when she got all milk. She had no negative reactions to the whole milk. Hope yours goes fine too!

Re: Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
DS had a milk protein alergy. He was on Similac Alimentum. When we transitioned to milk, the doctor had us do it really slow. We replaced 1 ounce of formula with 1 ounce of milk everyday until he was on all milk. So, for example, at the time he drank 4 7 ounce bottles a day. The first day his first bottle would be 1 ounce of milk/6 ounces of formula, and the rest of his bottles would be all formula. The next day it was 2 ounces of milk/5 ounces of formula for the first bottle, and all formula for the rest. Once the first bottle was all milk, then we moved on to his 2nd bottle until it was all milk, and so on. It took about a month, but he's had no problems at all.

Re: Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
We started the transition at 11 months. DD was drinking 8 oz bottles. So we did it like this
week 1- 2 oz whole milk- 6 oz of formula week 2- 4 oz whole milk- 4 oz formula week 3 6 oz whole milk- 2 oz formula and by the 4th week we were on all milk. We did wind up trying soy also but found whole milk to work best.

Re: Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
Thanks, I think I will do it slowly like you suggested. The ped said half and half but i think I will feel more comfortable doing ounce by ounce..
Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks

Re: Similac Sensitive to Whole Milk Transition?
We're transitioning right now from Similac Sensitive to whole milk.
Our GI has a schedule for a 7 day transition - he said we could go slower and I am, but this is his schedule:
We adjust the amounts but he bases it on a six oz bottle.
First three days - pick one bottle ONLY and put in 1 oz milk 5 oz form - rest of the bottles are still all form.
On day four - put milk in all bottles - 2 oz milk, 4 form
Day five -3 milk, 3 form
Day six - 4 milk - 2 form
Day seven - 5 milk, 1 form
Day eight - all milk
