6 month old vomiting - from solids?
Hi,
My dd is just about 6 months old. We started solids this week - 3 days of sweet potato and then we just started pears. She was EBF up to this point. We did a bit of cereal at 4.5 months because ped thought it might help with sleeping, but since it didn't I stopped it. She is very excited to eat and takes the food like a pro. Earlier today she vomited and since has thrown up 4 times in about an hour. I called the nurse in our peds office thinking it was from the solids and to get some advice as to whether we should wait, maybe it was too much, or it was a particular food. She said that because she threw up so much it was a bug of some sort and not food related. She has no fever or any other symptoms though. Has anyone experience their DC vomiting when starting solids? It just seems like too much of a coincidence that it happened the same week we started solids.
TIA!!

it sounds like a virus. my dd had the rotavirus for 8 days with no fever. a reaction to a food is usually hives. Plus there are so many stomach viruses going around. I hope she feels better.

Sounds like a virus. You don't necessarily have to have a fever. Poor kid hope she's feeling better. I hate when they are little and vomit

Thank you everyone! I am going to hold off on the solids and just keep breastfeeding her to keep her hydrated. It is really sad seeing her throw up and being so little. I was lucky to never have had this with my first daughter. Thankfully she is sleeping for a bit now.

DD would throw up sometimes if we fed her something that was too thick, but it was always immediately after taking the bite while she was trying to swallow.
So in your case I agree that it isn't related to the solids. Hope she feels better!

My DD would throw up her bottles for the rest of the night after eating solids when I first started. I had to water them down more in order for her body to digest it. That's what the peds recommended. I was also told to wait about 45-60 min after eating before giving her a bottle. Worked like a charm. Never threw up again. So you never know it could be the solids. Did you water it down? Like a lot? So that its very water and not thick? Sweet potatoes were the first thing I tried with my dd and she threw up. She did much better with squash.

Could be a virus, but also could be an allergy to the solids? Be careful when you try again.
