UPDATE-Chenille or Microfiber couch with cats/child
I went couch shopping today and cannot decide b/t a chenille or microfiber. The man at raymour said it does not matter the fabric because a cat will claw both. But the man at Bobs said a mircofiber is better.
Does anyone have advice which is better? Also, at Raymour on Friday they are having a sale (took $200 off price of couch) and are giving out Kodak video cameras (or something like that)
TIA
UPDATE
Thank you for all your help. I ended up buy a microfiber couch at Raymour. I just hope my cat will keep her claws off of it.

I would suggest Microfiber. I dont have much experience with chenille furniture but I do have a chenille area rug and it pulls. So annoying.
I have a microfiber sofa and 3 dogs. Very easy to clean.

microfiber - a lot easier to vacuum than chenille.

Re: Chenille or Microfiber couch with cats/child
I have microfiber with 1 kitty - my mom has a Chenille with 2 cats
I think the Chenile holds in the hair a bit more, microfiber is so easy to clean. I find the fabric to be very tough, since we keep his claws cut, he has never done any damage. I don't think they would damage the Chenile either though.
I say go with which one you prefer. I do think the microfiber is easier on stains (i.e from the child) but probably they are equal for the cats.

Def microfiber. I have chenille now, doesn't clean as easily and hairs/grime can get caught in between the design of the chenille.

i find that cat fur/hair gets stuck in chenille more. i've had a chenille chair and a microfiber couch... i'd go microfiber.

no cats - but two kids - do not go chenille! My kids rough house a bit and the cushions are all fraying at the seems - we just bought it in July and it's ruined.

I have microfiber with two short-haired dogs (pits) and their hair sticks to it but its easy to get off. My SIL has a chenile couch and it looks 100 years old from fraying.

I have a microfiber couch and a cat that constantly sheds. We vacuum regularly and it's fine.
