Any ideas would be appreciated Long) pre-k related
I just got a call from DS' pre-school and they said he is very unhappy today, not crying, just sad.
A little background. He went to school twice a week last year and did great for most of the year. He had a little trouble in the begining then again at he end because his sister was born and daddy started taking him instead of me.
This year new school, all new kids, goes 5 days a week and has not had one complaint about going at all. He has 2 boys he has become very friendly with and looks forward to seeing them. All last week both boys were on vacation, he still never complained just played with someone else.
He had a cold over the weekend and still has a lingering cough, but is pretty much fine. Monday and Tuesday of this week he went to school with no problem, I picked him up Tuesday and he didn't seem like anything was wrong. Wednesday DH drives him, so he took him and when they got there DS started crying saying he had a belly ache so DH brought him home (sucka, but thats another story) any way needless to say DS gets home and is fine all day. yesterday they were off. This morning I tell him you have to go to school don't give ma-ma (my mom drives him on Friday)a hard time. I just got a call from school saying he was upset, not really crying, just upset. I explain the story to her and she agree's I should not go get him, but I feel horrible. Why is he all of a sudden upset? I called my mom and she said he was happy going in...no problems. I told my mom to ask the teacher if they moved his seat, if he got in any trouble -he doesn't like getting in trouble and has been very proud to get stickers etc for doing good behaviors. I tried asking him on Wednesday night, but got nowhere.
Any other ideas about what might be going on?
I am not 100% happy with his teacher. I LOVE the 2 aids, but the teacher is not very warm and fuzzy and seems to befriend the girls and not the boys. Maybe she said something about his cough or something? Is there anything I can do to help him tell me if something happened without coaxing him to say something untrue?
Thanks if you made it this far!

Bump
And Update
This morning he was hysterical all morning before I left for work. I don't know what to do......I try to be empathetic and tell him I understand, but that he has to go because of x, y, z. Then after he goes on and on I tell him no more, I heard him, but I want him to stop crying now. Then I tried bribery.....nothing worked.
He went thru this last year also, but i'd just take him to school and let him cry, but he didn't start wailing hours before like he did today, plus my mom has to take him today and i feel bad that she will have to deal with it.
UGH!! It was much easier whaen I was the pre-school teacher not the parent.

Aww I am sorry I am sure this is rough on you. Sounds like he may have an issue with sep from you. It sounds like he may be having a little bit of a need for mama. (After all we are the best.) Anyway that you can maybe tell him that when he gets home if he is a good boy at school he and mommy will have some special time together?? Does he do this when you drop him off too or just other people. Maybe a picture of you in his backpack so he can remember that even if mommy can't drop him off he can still see her whenever he wants. HTH

Thanks labonnevie
Tiff.....I offered him a picture of us, a special object from home, I told him I would be getting home when he is and would do something special with him....its so sad. Breaking my heart that i'm not the one taking him. I don't know what else to do. I guess I will see when I bring him tomorrow because this just started Wednesday and it went like this:
Wednesday DH was bringing him, DS cried that he had a belly ache, DH brought him home
Thursday he was off
Friday my mom brought him he was happy as a clam, school called to tell me he was sad. My mom picked him up, he was droopy, but not crying.
Monday all heII broke loose this morning.

See how tomorrow goes, and than work from there. If it is a seperation issue from you than try the picture, and maybe a special note in his backpack every morning that when he gets there who ever is dropping him off can read to him...saying Mommy Loves you have a great day at school I can't wait to hear about all the FUN things your doing, and learning. I love and miss you my boy.
