poem to leave with candy for Trick or Treaters..
Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm not going to be home tomorrow evening and want to leave a bowl of candy out for anyone that will stop by. I've heard of cute poems that you can leave with your candy - basically saying in a nice way, not to take too much (all) the candy and leave some for others. Can't find anything on the internet. Can anyone help please. Thanks.

Don't bother - they will take the whole bowl anyway.

This is true I typed out a little cute poem one year for the kiddies, ran out to the store, and the whole thing was gone by the time we got back.
Of course , all it takes is one group of rotten apples.

Thanks - I like the pretzel idea. LOL. Will leave some out but I remember I did get the candy and the bowl taken a couple of years back.

I just had 4 teens empty the bowl of candy outside my door!!! I was so pizzzzed! I left it outside b/c I was putting the baby to sleep and I didn't want to door bell to ring! I just missed these kids. I saw them across the street. I would have said something to them but I didn't want them coming back with eggs and shaving cream.

Two years ago we bought a costco sized box of blow pops.
We came home to the whole box missing and each of the sticks cut in half and thrown all over my stoop.
I was done after that. Taking them ALL isn't bad enough - you have to destroy them and throw the mess all over my stoop?
No more when we're not home.

I just posted this on another board but some brat took most of the candy (the rest was scattered down my walk) and the bowl was thrown on the lawn.

It's not just the older kids that take more or the whole bowl. I am home with an upper respiratory infection so I left a note on the bowl outside to take two pieces and leave the rest to the other trick or treaters and from the window I saw and heard a little girl of about 7 years old brag that she took about 10 pieces. I was really pizzed off. And she was with an adult who was probably her father. Greedy, greedy, greedy .

Not only did the bowl get wiped out TWICE! The seconde time the bowl was wiped out they also stole my bowl!!

ugh, sad that some parents aren't good examples for their kids. From now on, if I'm not going to be home, I'm not leaving candy out. 1 kid ruined it for the rest.

Re: poem to leave with candy for Trick or Treaters..
A co-worker had his first bowl wiped out by kids, so he tried again with a note that said "If you take more than one piece our big nasty dog will chase you down and EAT YOU!" He said it looks like it worked - when they got back from dinner there were a few pieces of candy still in the bowl. Of course some kids could have taken all but two just so there were some left, but at least someone heeded the warning.
