Question for girls who've had Chemical Pregnancies

hi ladies,

last weekend i had a chemical pregnancy. i went to the dr on monday and they confirmed it (my beta was only 14 and i was bleeding heavily) the dr said the bleeding would be like a normal period just heavier, which it was. i stopped bleeding on wednesday.

but....i just got home from work and went to the bathroom and i'm bleeding again! i was so freaked out when i saw it. did anybody go through this or anything similar?? i'm so scared that something is wrong. i have a call in to my doctor's office but figured i'd post here in the meantime.

TIA for any advice/stories/opinions!

I am so sorry you are going through this. Chat Icon
I had a CP in February. Chat Icon Similar to you, I bled heavier than usual. I forget now if it went away and came back. AF has been a little heavier since (nothing says it should be though).

Good luck to you, and I hope everything is fine. Thinking/feeling/knowing you are pregnant whether for a couple days or months is difficult. Chat Icon Chat Icon If you need someone, FM me.

Re: Question for girls who've had Chemical Pregnancies

i had 2 chemicals although in the first the beta was a lot lower (5) than the second (46).

anyway for both i only bled once, but the second one where the beta was higher i was bleeding for about 5 days and spotted for 3 after - so 8 days total. i usually only bleed for 3 days and spot for a day or two.

anyway unless the second round of bleeding is extremely heavy or bad cramping or anything else unusual i would prob just assume its just your body getting rid of whatever is left in there - maybe it didnt get it all out the first time.

sorry you have to go through this - feel free to FM if you have any questions. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Question for girls who've had Chemical Pregnancies

thanks so much ladies Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i talked to my doctor's office and she said unless the bleeding becomes extremely heavy or i get really bad cramps then i should not worry. she said bleeding after a loss is always unpredictable.

this just sucks! i don't know if you guys remember but i was pregnant last year and our baby was very sick and we had to terminate when i was 12 weeks pregnant. so we really thought the next time around god would give us our miracle baby. but here we are with another loss and it just blows! i'm so sick of being sad and i'm sooooo frustrated! sorry for venting so much! i just am at the end of my emotional rope right now! it REALLY helps to have you girls to listen!! thanks again Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

no need to apologize for venting.

I had two and the first time I bled very heavily for about 4 days. The second one I bled and clotted very heavy for three days. It sucks and I am so sorry you have to go through another loss.

ETA: Are you seeing an RE?

thanks for sharing Chat Icon Chat Icon i guess my body wasn't done bleeding and this is just a continuation but it just sucks because i thought this was over Chat Icon

it's funny that you ask about an RE because we just talked about going to one. it's strange because our experiences aren't exactly "recurrent losses" but i seriously don't feel comfortable continuing TTC without seeing a specialist first. i just can't keep going through all these bad things! we are going to make an appointment for july or august once we get through this loss. i'm SUPER scared about going but i know it's better to go than not to go. are you seeing one?

I would suggest Dr. Braverman. He is amazing and has such a calmness about him. Very easy to talk to and jokes around but knows his sh!t. I went because I knew something wasn't right. It turns out that my DH tests came back great and mine came back repairable. I have a clotting issue and a form of PCOS. Its a lot to get into but basically he is going to put me on metformin and lovenox and do bloodwork and sonos the first 12-15 days of my cycle. We are going to have timed intercourse and possibly an IUI cycle. He, without any doubt in his voice, said I will have a baby.

So I know you are scared but knowing is half the battle. I would call his office now and set up that appointment. He will probably send you for a thrombophilgia panel and your DH for a SA. That will give him somewhat of an idea of what is going on and then a sono on CD3 will show him what is going on down there, if anything.

i see dr. b and he does consider chemicals to be just a relevant as later losses. i had two chemicals and am classifed as "recurrent loss" even though one chemical ended at like 18DPO and the other at 23DPO.
just because they weren't later in the pregnancy does not mean that they weren't relevant or losses. the first chemical i had i completely disregarded and thought that it was a fluke. once i had another and the beta was higher, i couldn't ignore that. i def recommend seeing an RE, especially one that specializes in recurrent loss if you can.
