pregnancy and the gym.......
I plan on getting back into my gym routine in a few weeks when I move. The problem I have going to the gym before then is- I currently have to walk to the gym where I live now. It's SO cold out and SO hard to get motivated to go to the gym, let alone walk there (I know.. excuses.. excuses)
Anyway, we're TTC and this will be my first cycle with an RE. Lets say I get pregnant this month.. What can I do at the gym? Anything?! Can I do regular yoga or does it have to be pregnancy yoga? -(which I don't think they offer)

Normally, you can do the same type of exercise you were doing before you got pregnant, you just have to monitor your heart rate.
As for Yoga, there are def. some postures that would not be recommended. I would suggest speaking with the instructor, or a manager at the gym.

Thanks, that's a good idea... I'll speak to the instructor.
I was excited about starting up yoga and wouldn't want to put it off for 9 long months!

Re: pregnancy and the gym.......
You should definitely let the instructor know you are pregnant right away. If you are doing cardio, you should wear a heart rate monitor to make sure your HR doesn't go above 140. I usually let mine go a little higher because I have an unusually high HR to begin with but the recommended is not above 140.
Also, just because they tell you that you can do something, be careful. I was doing pilates when I was pregnant with my son and ended up bleeding. I wouldn't put any pressure on your abdomen in your first tri!
Also, if you end up using fertility drugs, speak to your doc about what you can and can't do. I had to take about 6-8 weeks off when I did IVF.
Good luck!
