I don't have a 4 year old, but I think it would be fine. The bones are pretty big and with advanced warning, I think your DC would be fine! Chat Icon

Re: 4yrs old, too young for chicken on the bone?

DD is 2.5 yrs and she eats chicken off the bone all the time....wings...legs etc.

She knows to not eat the bones...We taught her super early about that. She's very careful.

My son is 3 1/2 and eats chicken on the bone, which my kids think is a delicacy. I hate it personally but I make it at their request. I would watch him with it the first time and make sure he realizes what he can and can't eat.

I would think it's fine. My DS is turning 4 and has been eating chicken legs for a while now.

my daughter loves ribs and chicken on the bone - she has been eating it for awhile without a problem - she will be 4 in a few weeks.
