so torn
I have been monitored by an RE this month - doing a natural cycle...
I ovulated on 11/4 (last Wednesday) at night (I felt the ovulatiojn pains)
I am going away tomorrow - the week I am supposed to check my PG levels...
The doctor told me to come in today and get my PG levels read... I still think that it is a bit early to test for PG levels only 5 dpo- but I understand that they needed to do it sometime before I went away.
The level came back as a 7 (granted last month it came back a 9 a week after ovulation)
She told me that one of the doctors reviewed the bloodwork and would like me to start the PG supposiitory 3x a day! I thought that was really excessive being that the test was done so early.
She also told me that taking pg will stop my period - which I am not OK with.
It took me a long time to get my periods under control and I don't want to mess around with them now that I am trying to get pregnant.
I don't know what to do - should I give it one more month and pray that I get pg this month and start the progesterone next time - or just bite the bullet and start taking the supplement this month.
Please give your input. Thanks

Re: so torn
PG = progesterone, right?
normally they check at 7 dpo... so 5 dpo isn't that far off.
progesterone won't 100% stop your period. i have gotten AF while on progesterone supps.
during my medicated cycles, i would take progesterone until 14 DPO which would be when i had my beta... then as long as that was negative, i'd stop the progesterone and get AF a few days later. it didn't affect my next cycles at all.

I agree w/ Hayley. I usually started progesterone early too---maybe 3 days post IUI? I was taking it 3X a day and would still get AF. I don't think it's excessive but u have to do what you're comfortable with...

Re: so torn
For me, progesterone was a very important supplement after IUI. I know we all have our own ideas of how we would like things to be, but I would definitely go with the advice of your RE.

Re: so torn
I would follow the advice of my RE. As much I wanted to believe that things would work out on their own I knew better and there was a reason I was at the RE. I took the meds they wanted me to take, I was monitored when they needed me to be monitored, and in 4 months I was pregnant. So if your RE wants you on the progesterone then there must be a reason and if what you want is to get pregnant then follow the advice of your RE. Good luck!
