4.5 month old sleep
How many hours for napping and how much sleep do you think is average for a 4.5 month old? I kno a regression sometimes occurs now but our schedule is getting worse and worse instead of better. In total she napped for almost 5 hours at Day care yesterday but was up so many times during the night. I used to at least get one decent 5 hour stretch and now hardly that. I'm so tired I could claw my eyes out they burn so bad!

DD slept 10-11 hours at that point but only took cat naps totaling maybe 2 hours or so during the day. Five hours worth of naps seems like a lot to me, but then again I don't have a napper.

This exactly. I'm surprised that you baby can sleep that long at daycare? My DD was taking cat naps at daycare at that age. At 11 months now she sleeps 10-1130 and 3-4 usually Maybe your baby is sleeping too much during the day ?

At that age, my DS would only sleep continuously for maybe 2-3 hours at a time overnight and that stretch would be 8-11 pm.... It sucked - I was literally a zombie from 4-6 months. This is not what you want to hear, but some kids are terrible sleepers and regression is normal. It didn't matter how religious I was with his schedule, he just would not sttn or even give me a 5 hour stretch. That didn't happen until 6 months and he only started sttn when he turned 2.
I assume the 5 hours of napping is not continuous. At that age, my DS was sleeping at least three times a day - I think for a min of 3 hours total.

Yes, this seems more like my DD. DD#1 was a terrible sleeper no matter what I did. DD#2 had some promise bc I was getting good stretches, now it is going downhill again. I know it is not their fault but man oh man I am tired and cranky!!!!

Re: 4.5 month old sleep
DD is the same age and sleeps very rarely during the day. Usually only about 2, maybe 3 20 minute stretches. She slept for an hour at daycare yesterday and they were surprised. But she had been up late the night before. She sleeps straight through the night though from about 9:00 PM- 4:00 AM. She nurses then and goes back to sleep until we're ready to leave for work at 6:00.
