 MLSLI.com Question
ANyone know - do you have to be a realtor to list a house for sale here?
DH and I just decided to sell our house and we want to try and sell it ourselves first - can we list it on mlsli.com or do we have to be realtors?

 Re: MLSLI.com Question
I believe you can go on any one of the FSBO websites that say if you pay for their ad... you get an MLS listing.
If you get an MLS listing... it should appear on MLSLI.

 Re: MLSLI.com Question
if you want to sell it yourself, the best bet would be to list it on FSBO, the website is lifsbo.com
to get it on multiple listing (mlsli.com) you'd have to sign with a realtor, and they'd list it on mls for you.

Aren't there FSBO listings that will simultaneously list on MLS?

Ahhhh... what a quick Google search will bring up.
  FSBO MLS Listing - $499

Sounds to me like you don't need a realtor to get on MLS.

  No, and yes.
You CAN technically list your house on MLS, BUT there is a fee of like $500 (?) - PLUS, if a realtor comes along and sells it to their buyer, the seller is still on the hook for the commission. so it just makes sense to automatically go with a realtor, IF the seller wants it on MLS anyway.

A Standard MLS listing is about $500 buks to get on there.
And as far as a seller being "on the hook for comission"... if an agent wants to show the home to a buyer... you simply decline saying you are doing it FSBO with no agents involved.
If the buyer is savvy enough... the buyer will find you directly.
So it makes more sense to go with a realtor and pay 3% commission over paying $500 buks?
And what makes that website I put on there any different than MLSLI? Any MLS listing will get you on MLSLI if you property is located in either Queens, Nassau, or Suffolk.

 Re: MLSLI.com Question
Here is the company Ron put up.
  http://www.byowner.com/mls/index.asp

Read this quote from that website carefully.

Do I have to pay an agent if I put my home on the local MLS Listing Service but find the buyer myself?
NO! In this scenario, you would have only spent $500 ** to get on the MLS Listing System.

for some people it does! saves them alot of time and headache having a realtor take care of everything, especially with everything thats involved.

  Exactly... some people.
But the original poster very clearly said they did not want to go the realtor route. So don't you think it would be prudent to post the information that the original poster is seeking?

Exactly. You posted that the only way to get on MLSLI is to go through a realtor and that's MIS-INFORMATION.
I said it. Ron said it.

And last time I checked... selling it yourself first means... NOT using a realtor.

  kathy, just so you know:
i just called MLSLI.com, and asked what their policy is, so to answer YOUR direct question about MLSLI.com: You CANNOT list your home with mlsli.com, without a realtor. That is not their policy. sorry.
djpill, i WAS CORRECT! and YOU are wrong. kathy's original question was specific! she was asking about MLSLI.com!!!

 Re: MLSLI.com Question
FYI - the FSBO companies that list a home on MLS are doing it through a realtor. The realtor is invisible to the seller. The realtor is doing something they really aren't supposed to be doing but for the dollars and cents I guess they do!
