4 months into 2008
and we just got news that another couple is separating. This is the 3rd couple we know of since Jan.
I thought 2008 was suppose to be great

Supposedly divorce rates are around 50%. It's very sad but chances are half the people we know will end up divorced.

It is sad, but if two people arent meant to be together, you cant force it. Im sad for the children involved, but sometimes the divorce is better for the children. Especially if there is tons of fighting.

I was thinking that yesterday. We were in a jewelry store and there was all these thank you cards hanging up from various weddings, etc. All I kept thinking was how many of them have thrown in the towel?

My one friend had only been married a year when she and her DH(in this case it's Dumb Husband) separated. They got married when she got PG had a son. They separated and got back together several times. She left him for good when she was PG with her 2nd son. Now they are divorcing.
DH and I talked about how we feel about divorce when this was going on (right before our wedding). Luckily we both have the same idea about it. We feel like some people jsut don't try anymore. They get bored and instead of communicating their problems to their SO they just harbor resentment until they can't stand eachother anymore.
I know there are definite circumstances where divorce is necessary, especially when kids are involved. I think sometimes people jump into a marriage too quickly without thinking long term.
I have another friend who dated a guy for a few months and got PG. They got married when she was 5 months along. They are miserable now. They can't get along and now they have 2 kids under 2.
It's sad for me to have to watch them go through this, especially when there is nothing I can do to help them.

Sadly I know of so many friends that I grew up with -who are seperating/already divorced after a very short time... I agree many people do not take marriage as serious as in the past. They give up.
I think many don't think it through at the start. They get wrapped up with the wedding plans to have that great day. They foget it' s just that-one day. They plan every detail of that big, fancy wedding. They have to make that dayperfect than forget that it' s the marriage that is most important.
Just my 2 cents.

I think a lot more people are divorcing now vs. then because women are not as scared to divorce as they used to be.
