37 weeks and 3 CM dilated...
Dr said if i keep progressing like this he wants me to come into the hospital...i guess that means inducement?
But i dont want to induce!!

I was 2 centimeters and 50% effaced at 38 weeks. I did NOT want to be induced.
Why would he induce? Can you tell him you want to wait?

Yeah, why would he induce you?  I delivered on my own at 37 weeks.

Jen - I walked around 80% effaced, 3cm for 3 weeks. Its fairly common with your second - not that I'm a doctor but most of my girlfriends had this happen with their 2nd.
I think *maybe* what he means is if you're feeling "done" and not feeling great you qualify for inducing????? I know that my doc's wouldn't induce me with either child unless I was effaced and dilated first.

If you don't want to be induced, you always have the right to decline. Some women walk around at 3cm for a couple of weeks before anything happens. It sounds like you are progressing just fine on your own so as long as nothing is wrong with the baby, why would you have to be induced?

I was 1-22cm at 35 weeks, then 3cm and 90% effaced at 37 weeks and didn't deliver until 39 weeks...if you don't want to be induced, I would just say no...I did have a very quick labor though, since I was 3cm and totally effaced for a week when I went into labor...4 hours from first contraction to delivery...

I have a "feeling" he wants to do it on his schedule. This happened with DS who was 9 days late and my dr could not understand why I didnt want to induce around my due date.
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am adament to have nature take its course. The dr said something to me like "why would you want to be in a situation where the baby is hanging out and you are not near the hospital?"
I am going to wait until next week and unless they tell me the baby is in some type of distress i am not inducing

That is annoying Jen - he needs to do it around YOUR schedule!! Do lots of walking and you still have plenty of time --- so much can happen in three weeks!

no that does not mean inducement if the baby is doing well, and being 3cm dilated at 37 weeks is fine. You are considered full term at this point so that's a great progress.

OH OK . just read the rest of the thread. If you are not having contractions and/or your water doesn't break you should be fine for another week and even longer as long as baby is not in distress. just listen to your body

I was 2 cm dilated and 90 % effaced for a month, and have been 3-4 cm and 100% effaced for the past two weeks and my lil one isn't budging-- yours might do the same! I decided to induce tomorrow bc of pain and the imminence of a csec bc of a large posterior presenting baby.

just because your cervix is ripening does NOT mean that you need to be induced!!!!
you very well might stay at that dilation/effacement for a while. i was 3cm, 100% effaced for a week and a half before i actually went into labor.
you have every right to decline an induction!

I had DS#1 at 37 weeks and he was 7lbs. 12ozs. They gave me pitocin and all fine.
