it's terrible, we posted about this yesterday... basically Simplicity was bought by this new company, SFCA Inc, and SFCA doesn't think they are responsible for previous defects. Chat Icon

Re: HORRIBLE story about co-sleeper - PLEASE READ

The manufacturer hasn't recalled but retailers have agreed to stop-sell and recall them.

We have one and will be returning it ASAP.

Here is a link to the post about it yesterday:

Re: HORRIBLE story about co-sleeper - PLEASE READ

I have been reading Consumer Reports Best Baby items since I am registering and they do not recommend co-sleepers. I don't believe they are regulated enough in their opinion. Just wanted to share.

I just opened the link and that is terrible. Seems like an accident waiting to happen if you ask me. Chat Icon

I used this bassinet with my girls. How scary. Although I don't really understand how this could happen if you use the bassinet right. I am sure many parents have used it wrong though and then it can be dangerousChat Icon

I agree - and am in no way blaming the parents - but how does this happen if you're co sleeping? Are you not RIGHT there?

Oh crap. We have one of these (that DD has been out of for a long time, but I did plan on using it for any future babies). We never used it as a co-sleeper, though. Now I have to go inspect it to see if we have that bar.

well, I know mine had fabic that velcros around that bar. It velcros really tight. There is no way my 2 year old could un-velcro that without a fight.

You probably have the same one we used (we have the one pictured in the CPSC report. So I know ours has the bar. We never used ours as a co sleeper I never felt comfortable doing it - we used it only as a bassinet. Oh well guess we will need to get another one for the next future baby - I had hoped to use this one too b.c it goes to 18 lbs and was very comfortable for DD.

Yup, ours has the bar (it has foam on it that says do not remove). However, I just checked the Model # in the list that Babies R Us has posted, and it's not on there. Chat Icon Kind of confused now ...

Hmmm we got ours at BBB. But I can tell you it is the same one that is in the picture posted on the CPSC web site and it has the velcro etc so I am going to take the safe route and assume it is included.

This post scared me about the co-sleeper since we used one (The actual--Co-sleeper which is different)--Its actually more of a "Close Sleeper" and the design on this definitely looks harmful. Poor parents and thos epoor babies!

Re: HORRIBLE story about co-sleeper - PLEASE READ

The recalled item is a bassinet that can be used as a co-sleeper, not a true co-sleeper. I never took the side down. They are still saying not to use it either way now.

Re: HORRIBLE story about co-sleeper - PLEASE READ

I saw this yesterday and meant to look into it, since we plan to reuse our bassinet when Chat Icon arrives.

Thanks so much for posting. I just saw that our bassinet is on the list of recalls on the Toys R Us site so I'll be returning it tomorrow.

I called and told them I don't have the box anymore. They said no problem just bring it in.

This is the cosleeper i used for dd and using for baby #2, the side that goes down goes down like the playyard you have to unlock the middle and fold to detach from the sides.. not super easy to do but safe. My sister used this one for her 3 kids also.

arm's reach mini co-sleeper.
