Cross-Eyed/Lazy Eye? Pic included...

Got some professional pics of DD taken today by a friend. She sent one along to me as a teaser...and I can't help but notice that she looks like she has a lazy eye in the pic...

We had taken her to the eye dr. a few months back and the dr. said she looked ok...that the bridge of her nose hasn't fully developed and that once it does it will pull the skin away from her eye....but I don't know....looks like the problem is still there...thoughts?Pic

the left eye? I am not sure because the pic is on an angle so it is hard to say if it is or not

my ds has had the same issue. he is almost 10 months now and it is better but not completely gone. we took him to an eye specialist as well, who said it was because the skin from his nose/eyelid was very slightly covering the corners of his eyes (in medical speak it's called a "prominent epicanthal fold"). so when he looks inwards it looks like his eye is crossed. it's relatively common in babies and gets better as their faces grow.

i honestly don't think you can tell from that pic. Her neck is slightly turned so it may just APPEAR to be crossed/lazy

You are the mom so you know DD better than any of us.

But in this pic, her head is slightly turned to the left so her left eye would have to be a bit inwards too in other to look at the camera.

I will keep an eye on it and see if she outgrows it like the Dr. told you. Wait to see what the eye dr. says.

yes, we saw an eye doctor....I will definitely keep an eye on it.

My son's eyes looked the same way. He is now being patched for 3 hours a day to correct this. He has ambliopia, strabismus and he is farsighted. I'd say if you notice this a lot...have her checked out. The earlier you try to correct it the better.

DS's eye was only noticable to me and DH, yet we had him checked...everyone in our family thought we were nuts...they saw nothing. We were glad we had him looked at...we found out he did have a problem and now we can be on top of it.

BTW...she is precious!!!

The eye dr told me not to go by pictures. He said you can't be sure what the child is looking at.

I don't think it's possible to tell by that picture. It could be the way her head is turned or the camera angle.

Adorable pic by the way!!

If you are very concerned, I would take her back to eye dr. to express your concerns and double check.

I don't think your cutey has a lazy eye. Very few people have exactly proportional faces. Maybe what you see is that one eye is ever so slightly higher than the other (and when I say eye, I don't mean the eyeball, I mean the opening and such) making it appear that her eyes aren't aligned.


Did they do a visual test? DD had 2, one at 6 months and another at 1yr because Amblyopia is on DH's side.

It's hard to tell from the angle of the pic. What a cutie!

I actually used to be crossed eyed in one eye. You couldn't tell when I was an infant but it became more prominent as I got older. I had surgery in first grade, had to wear an eye patch for awhile (my mommy was so good, and didnt make me wear it to school - i wore it afterwards). I wore glasses throughout jr high and on and off in high school; completely stopping at the end of high school. Back when I had my surgery they said most people had to have it twice. I onlt had it once and havent had a problem since.

I don't see a lazy eye problem at all. However, it does look like her left eye pulls in more - does that make sense? Either way - she's adorable!!!!

I have noticed that if you take a batch of pictures of any baby, some of the pics will have that. Does that make sense?

Gianna had this diagnosed at 4 mths...I was sent to an eye doc for further testing. they said she seemed
cross eyed a lot and her eye would veer to corner.
It kind of runs in family so I took her and doc said it, nothing was wrong.

Maybe get that checked out..for piece of mind.
And I was also told that if it was the case, that it is corrective..esp at finding it at an early age.

The doctor is right. She was born with epicanthal folds. As her nasal bridge becomes more prominent it will pull the skin up. It's the angle from the picture. There are a lot of little ones on here that have them. Scroll through some albums...
