3 day potty training...update: refuses to sit

I'm going to use that method to train my daughter. Did 3 days really work for your child?

So we just started this morning. DD will be 3 on Sept. 30. I put her in underwear this morning, kept saying to tell me when you have to go pee pee. She started dribbling so I rushed her to the potty where she had a complete meltdown. My question is to I just keep it up or will it turn her off from potty. I don't want it to become a negative thing for her.

Yes it worked for both my girls although I did make a few Tweeks to it they were both pretty much potty trained for pee by the third day although poo took a couple of days longer overall they were both completely potty trained during the day by two weeks nighttime is a different story it can take a couple of months for my girls it took two more extra months for nighttime dryness but every kid is different if use the program remember that no program is perfect and adjust the program to your kid and it will work good luck

Yep. My DD was a little older though so I think that helped. She was 3y3m when she trained. We ditched the diapers cold turkey, the first day she had a few accidents, the second day 2-3, and by day 3 she was golden. Never had an accident again after that last day. We did keep her in Pull-Ups at night for a while even though she was waking up dry 98% of the time.

it worked for us for day time. I tried to follow the rules at night for about a month at night and she wasnt getting it so went to pullups for night.

I think it depends on the child. We tried it for my older son at age 3 but it didn't work so great.
My second son was a breeze - we told him leading up to his 3rd birthday that he was going to be in big boy underwear and the day he turned 3, he didn't want to wear diapers or pull ups anymore - even at naps or bedtime. He only had accidents if he wasn't feeling well, and that was very rare.
My third son isn't even 18mos yet and he's already interested in using the potty - this may backfire so I'm taking our time with him.

Question was she excited about the idea of potty training? Was she doing something interesting when you put her on the potty? I would go easy today and build up the Big Girl Panties and all the things Big Girls can do etc. At 3 She has to be on board with the idea.

are you using a regular potty or a kid potty.

DD was like that the first day she did horrible!! i was so defeated i was using the regular potty with ring on it. I decided to whip out my travel potty for the second day and she did much better by day 3 she was trainned. lots of luck
ETA: DD was a little over 2 when i did it

She was very excited when she put on her underwear. She in interested when others go to the bathroom. She knows what the potty is for and will even give us toilet paper. She really hasn't seem interested in sitting on it though herself.

She needs to be potty trained for preschool by September (they said she can wear pull-ups). In a teacher do I'm home and it's perfect timing.

Like I said she understands the potty, loves wearing the underwear just doesn't want to sit! I just don't want to turn it into a bad experience and turn her off from it all together.

My DD is 28 months and 95% potty trained and I used this method. I did modify it in that I do use diapers for naps and night time. She wakes up dry about half the time though.
You need to keep on top of her. I never asked her to go I just kept saying "M, if you have to go pee pee, tell mommy" over and over and over. Now I ask her if you have to pee what do you do? She says" mommy I go on potty" . I started July 1st and she tells me when she has to go. She really has had minimal accidents. You really do need to pay attention and not really do anything else. She would grab her self and I would bring her to the bathroom room and she would go. Since she is tiny I also bought a potty chair. When she gives me a hard time I have my older DD go in with her and they go together and then the little one will pee.

Don't give up. It takes work but if you really think your DC is ready stick with it.
