2nd UPDATE!!! Britney Spears Concert, BAD EXPERIENCE *WARNING* VERY VERY LONG

2nd UPDATE: Well the second concert was a much better experience. They gave us tickets in the low 100 section and they were really good. I felt much safe not being on the floor. These tickets were less then what I spent originally but they were still $175 each. During the opening act (Nicki Minaj) someone from security came to get us. Turns out he is head of security for the Britney Spears. He apologized many times and was a really nice guy. He told me for some reason that show has been the craziest so far and the crowd was out of control. He then brought us backstage. I thought for a minute we would meet Britney but we did not. We did however meet the head of the company who managers the tour. When I was introduced to this person a guy comes over. Right away I knew he was. It was Jamie Spears (Britney's Dad). He took us in a room and we all spoke. They were very sincere in apologizing to me. They told me this is not how they run tours and felt really bad. He even said things that I had said in my letter, so I knew he read it. He gave me programs signed by Britney. My friend who came with me originally was put on bedrest and was unable to come and my sister came with me. I told them this and they gave me an extra signed program for my friend. I thought it was very nice that he came to meet me and actually read my letter. They said that they get tons of letters daily but my letter really stuck out and they knew I was hurt by this experience. They said they hope one day I bring my girls with me to a tour. It was very sweet and I was shocked how many people read my letter. Sometimes I guess it is worth writing in to tell them how you feel. They were happy I did. I noticed that the same security guy who blocked my view at the first show was now walking around not just sitting in one spot. The show was amazing and I saw so many things I did not see the first time around. Also was very surprised Britney sang many sounds live. Usually much of the show is lip synced but this time probably 70% was her singing. I can tell because I can hear breathing and if she was off key (which was not often).

UPDATE: After reaching out to many people involved in the tour, I received an email from the tour management company who is putting on the show. They are giving my friend and I 2 tickets for the show in East Rutherford on Friday and promised to make the experience a much better one. I am very happy someone is doing something to make this better.

This is an email I sent about 20 people from Britney's team of people, Nassau Coliseum, celebrity blogs and just anyone who would listen. I want something to be done.

On Tuesday, August, 2, 2011 my friend and I attended the Britney Spears concert at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York. We purchased tickets on the floor section C2 row 1 seat 13. These seats were the first row on the left of the second part of the stage.
During Nicki Minaj the security had basically no control. They let people run to the front of the stage and stand in-front of us and all around us. I know it is a concert but people from the back who did not pay the amount we did should not be where we were standing. My friend and I are both pregnant and we felt threatened by the people who were knocking into us. My friend was hit in the head with an elbow, got her water spilled all over the place and knocked around for a while. We could not even go sit in our seats since people were all over the place and some were standing on our seats. We would ask one person to get off the seat and another would go right up. They also let people who we came to find out were some of Britney’s dancers stand in-front of us taking pictures. Kanye West came out and then everything fell to pieces again and it was frightening. One of the security for the Nicki Minaj was very nasty. He at one point put his hand on my shoulder and moved me out of the way and then did the same to a friend. He said nothing just touched us both. I yelled at him do not touch us we are pregnant and he just snickered and walked away. I could not believe that security for no reason would touch people so he could get through. We were actually the people who were suppose to be standing in that area , not the other 20 people who came out of nowhere.
During the break between Nicki Minaj and Britney Spears, Britney’s security team came out and were walking around. They told the security for the venue to not let anyone but the first row come up to the stage. I heard them say this to a few people. I was happy they were going to do this because of what happened during Nicki Minaj’s set.
When Britney came out they did not let anyone stand in-front of us. We were excited and it was great at first. The security for the venue was standing right in-front of me for the first 10 minutes of the show and I had to keep bobbing my head back and forth to see the stage. This security person had friends/family come up and stand next to me but then had them move because Britney’s security did not want them there. Then it went downhill from here. Britney’s very tall and big security guy stood in-front of me the entire show. He had friends come up and stand next to me and at the end let one stand in-front of me. I asked the girl to move but she said no. The security guy did not care he was blocking my view. Some other security for the tour would need to get in-front of me to get around and would push me out of the way with no warning. This happened at least 10 times. Like I said I am pregnant and this was just very scary. We paid for the front row to try and avoid the chaos and it was worse. They did not say anything just pushed me repeatedly. One of them stepped right on my feet and when I said something he looked at me like I did something wrong and just walked away. They had no regard for any of the fans who paid good money to see this show. Britney’s assistant/friend Felicia was standing in-front of me talking to security and laughing. The security saw me getting upset and asked me to move over, but there was nowhere to go. Felicia saw him motioning for me to move and she turned around and was very apologetic (at least someone was at this point). I kept staring at the security and he just did not care he was blocking me. I know he had a job to do but he was the only one standing around the stage from Britney’s crew. If he moved at all someone from the venue would stand in-front of me. Throughout the show I probably saw 10% of what was going on and that is stretching it a little.
I have been a loyal fan of Britney Spears since I was 15 years old and I am now 26. I have gone to many of her concerts, bought many CD’s, and have been a loyal fan through the ups and downs of her career. To be treating with no respect during this show was very upsetting to me. I didn’t even stay for the encore because I was very angry and upset at this point of the show. I just wanted to write to you and let you know how awful Britney and Nicki’s team of people were. Also the venue had no control over anything and it was a scary night that should have been a fun carefree night.

I'm sorry you had a bad time, and I'll probably get flamed for this, but IMO that is what you get when you get floor 'seats'.

Floor seats doesnt mean you get a seat. It means you get knocked around, you can't see because the person in front of you is taller and everyone from the back pushes up. I've been at concerts where you get stepped on, pushed to the ground, crushed and hit - you're lucky if you dont come out bloody.

I agree that for General Admission it's every person for themselves but security is a big deal. If you pay for floor seats, you do get your seat.

I wouldn't let it rest if it were me. I detest Nassau Coliseum. It might even be enough for me to dispute my credit card costs or sue for the ticket price.

I am sorry this happened and you definitely should complain to Nassau Collosieum as it is their responsibility since the security work for the Collosieum (exception is the artist security). As someone who works in the industry I hate to say that what you experienced tends to happen for concerts as popular as Britney and Nicki Minaj. its one of the reasons I dont attend some events and my tickets are usually VIP/front rows.

I do expect that in general admission and I would never buy general admission. But these were floor seats, we had a seat. During Nicki Minaj the security was just not good. But during Britney it was the security pushing my friend and I not the crazy fans. This was a Britney Spears concert and I have been to 3 others and never once was I pushed around and left bloody. I would never put my self at risk if I thought I would leave bloody and crushed.

Oh, I know you *should* get your seat, and it would be there, but I would never think that I could actually sit in it and enjoy the concert. When i think of where to go for a concert where I would be in the least amount of harm- being down on the floor (whether GA or seats) front row would not be my choice.

I fully agree. There is a big difference between General Admission tickets (where you pay to stand on the floor, no assigned seating) and actually floor seats. Actual floor seats are very expensive and supposed to be the best seats in the place. I've done it a few times (not at NC) and didn't have the experience the OP had. I'd also dispute the charge on my cc if the venue didn't give me a refund.

Yes I know what I am trying to say is certain venues are havoc..depending on the Artist/genre of music being featured-Pop, Rock, Hip Hop hate to generalize but the bigger the artist the younger the crowd and from my experience the less control venues tend to have. So I hate that it happened to you and your friend but unfortunately I am not surprised. Your best bet is to complain to the colosieum and your credit card company.

Good Luck!

I see what you're saying but my point is the venue has a responsibility to ensure security & the safety of its ticketholders. Part of that responsiblity is that someone who pays for a seat, gets one. No one - but in particular someone who is pregnant - should have to accept a situation where they felt their safety was in jeopardy.

I may be still flipping mad over the fact that on my kids' brownie trip to NC, I was sold a ticket that had no seat. Their solution was to put a folding chair in the aisle so I could sit next to me kids. Being perched at top a row of stairs with people walking the aisle was a horrible situation to be in.

This is completely true... sometimes artists ask for security to be kind of lax as long as nobody is in danger.

Oh yes, love those blue folding chairs. Or the seats that are half ripped apart. Hey, at least a sewage pipe didn't open up or a part of the roof fall down on top of your head.

Hey, maybe we should see if we can refurbish the coliseum. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyway, back on topic - OP, SMG is the management company that has a contract with NVMC. Contact them ,they are probably in charge of security personnel.

Re: Britney Spears Concert, BAD EXPERIENCE *WARNING* VERY VERY LONG

Im so sorry that happened. I had a similiar experience but was not pregnant at the time. Me and my friend paid ALOT for front row NOT GENERAL ADMISSION but front row like you and your friend did. And at a point during the show people just swarmed the front we got pushed aside . I was scared, my friend was ****** and about to bust heads. Eventually the security told everyone to get back to their seats. But its bull**it how people dont pay for front row tickets and are allowed to bum rush the stage. I totally feel your pain . I m very glad you and your friend are okay.

Congrats on your pregnancyChat Icon

I wondered if that was her! There were 3 enormous buses and cops all around on Monday night. We didn't catch a glimpse of her but I knew it had to be her staying there!
