Back from first sono
Well I am about 5w6d. We were able to see the sac and the yolk, and the dr said that was fine.
The yolk was hard to see... is that normal?
I go back next wednesday for another sono to see how things are progressing.
My dilemma now is if I should spill it to my parents this weekend or wait it out till we see a heart beat.

it's TOTALLY normal not to see much of anything that early!! seriously the yolk sac is TINY that early on - i didn't mine at ALL (sorry for the caps i just want to emphasize that you shouldn't worry  )
it sounds like you are progressing normally... this is great news!! many many  and sticky dust for you!!! 
ETA: i can't tell you what i *think* you should do about telling your parents, because i don't know what kind of person you are about stuff like that... i can tell you that i am not a private person at ALL when it comes to my mom, she knows everything about me. the only reason i didn't call ehr as soon as i POAS is b/c DH wanted me to take a digital first (he thought those were more "accurate"  )

I had an external sono when I was measuring 7 weeks. I could barely see anything. I have a few pictures, but it looks more like a small dot than anything else. I sort of saw the heartbeat, but it was really tiny. What you saw sounds completely normal. 
I told my parents and DH's family about 2 weeks before we saw the heartbeat. I wasn't planning on telling them so soon, but I'm glad I did. You should do whatever makes you comfortable.

I couldn't I called my mom right away when I got the phone call after the 2ww of course I called my DH first though but don't worry about the yolk sac it's stil a lil early you'll see it better with the heart beat

Sounds like things are coming along! I hope you get to see a heartbeat next week, as you will be 7 weeks! Go with your gut on when to tell the family. We waited until 7+ weeks b/c we wanted to see the heartbeat and confirm it. We didn't tell anyone at the time that we were TTC or seeing an RE b/c we are private people.

No picture...I could barely see anything on screen so I doubt anything would be substantial on a picture.
I will ask for one next week though!

Congrats again Jenn! I can't answer your question because my first sono was at 9 weeks but I'm sure everything is great!
We debated back and forth about when to tell our parents as well... we told them at about 7 weeks...

So happy for you darling!! That is great!
We told our families at 8 weeks- I wanted to have a clearer sono picture to show them as well as hear the heartbeat. It was hard for us but i am glad we waited. We made it very special and bought these sonogram cards to give to our family members. They all cried when we gave it to them.
