Hello everyone. This was probably one of the most difficult weeks I have ever experienced. Mom is gone a week now and I continue to feel pretty numb.

Mom’s funeral was this past Sunday. I feel she left this world with an incredible amount of dignity and love. I was able eulogize an amazing woman, from whom I believe I acquired my ability to express myself. Since the funeral, my brother and sisters and my aunt, (Mom’s sister) have been surrounded by family and friends who came in droves. The house was filled with people, baskets of food, fruit, deli platters and most of all memories of how much she meant to everyone.

The days since her passing have been easy during the day when there are people around, but at night, it is so hard. I just miss her so much and keep thinking that I will hear her voice again or see her. I sometimes feel as if this all hasn’t really happened and it is a dream.

DH and his family have truly stepped up as they have been there every night during Shiva. In the 4 years that DH and I have been together, they have seen me lose both of my parents – never having met my father at all and meeting Mom at my Dad’s funeral which was only 6 months before we were married. I am very lucky to have them.

What I need to focus on now is staying healthy and enjoying the rest of my pregnancy while at the same time, mourning her loss. It will certainly prove to be the ultimate challenge. I know she wanted me to enjoy this time as she had been so excited for her fifth grandchild. She told me so before she passed away. We were scheduled to choose a layette for the baby next month. My sisters, MIL and SILs will step in and we will all do it together. Strangely enough, since the moment Mom passed, the baby has been more active than she ever has. I swear it she has my mother’s spirit in her as Mom was one tough lady. Sleeping for me had been hard before Mom was gone and now it is even worse. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow just to talk about how to stay healthy and cope right now. I am now responsible for two lives and I have to protect us both. I suppose my own parenting skills have already started.

I would like to thank everyone here on LIF for their never ending support. So many of you visited my family during Shiva and sent us incredible things to keep us fed. My siblings were overwhelmed with your generosity and we all are incredibly thankful. I would like you all to know that I have read each and every post and FM for the past week and I wish I could acknowledge each one individually, but it would be impossible. There were just so many. I am looking forward to posting on all of the boards again. Again, I thank you all.

Please know we are all here for you and love you very much. I didn't have the honor of meeting your mother but if you are a reflection of the kind of person she was, then I'm sure she was a great woman who will be sorely missed.

Leslie, words can't express what I think you must be going through right now, and what an incredible and strong woman you are. You are definitely one of a kind of special people out there and I'm sure your parents are looking down on you and your family with such happiness and pride. Your little one will have her own special angel now...your mom. I remember when Michael was born and I would wake up in the middle of the night for his feedings, I would sit in the rocking chair exhausted, but the moment that I would see him looking up or behind me smiling, I knew it was his grandma angel (Mike's mom) smiling at him, letting him know that she was there, watching him grow and letting him know of her presence...those are priceless moments I will always cherish and they always put a smile on my face.

Leslie, you are definately one of the strongest women I know. I can't put myself in your shoes but I can imagine how difficult this was for you & your family. Your daughter will definately have your mom's spirit & she will be a special angel. Both your parents are looking down on you now, proud!!!! Be healthy & know that I am here if you need me

I am so sorry that you are going through this Leslie! You are a great person and a great friend. Your mom and dad may not be able to physically with you but I am certain that they are watching you and smiling and awaiting Edlie Bubbles like everyone else
