spinoff to my own broadway show poll--my big fat moral dilemma!!!
so most people agree with me that jeans/sneakers do not belong at a broadway show, even on a tuesday.
here's my big problem--i'm 30 weeks pregnant and becoming quite swollen in my hands and feet
i'm going to a 7pm broadway show tomorrow night. i don't know what to wear because we're walking to the show from penn station (about 20 minutes).
i'm scared that if i wear nice sandals my feet will swell and i won't be able to walk (plus it might be cold). but if i wear shoes my feet might be hot and also swell.
the only thing i'm comfortable to walk in is sneakers--which i am against wearing to a show.
so what do i do? wear the sneakers and hear the laughs of my family since i'm anti-sneaker wearing to a show? chance wearing sandals/shoes and swell and possibly not be able to walk?
what would you do??

Another option could be to wear your sneakers to walk, being a large tote bag with a different pair of shoes, and change your shoes when you get there.

or even Sketchers. they sell some styles that don't look anything like the typical sneaker.

Would your family really laugh at you?? It's not as though it's a fashion choice.
If you really don't want to wear sneakers to the show - either take a cab from penn or bring shoes to change into like Jax1023 suggested.
Either way - enjoy the show. No one is going to be looking at your feet!

I agree. That's what I used to do when I walked far when I commuted to the city.

I saw a show a few months ago...and was only 6 months preggers and wore black sneakers from payless. They were champion sneakers...and I wore black socks! No one even noticed! Either way...I say sneakers!! You def won't enjoy the night with shoes!

I would either A. Bring shoes to change into, or B..Wear the sneakers..
I feel bad in the original post I said something like "no matter what day, dress nice"...Not realizing you were pregnant!

it's not that they'd be laughing at me because i'm weaing sneakers. it's that they all believe that jeans/sneakers is what you SHOULD wear to a show and i'm always yelling at them that they're wrong. so i'd be a huge hypocrite to wear them when i always tell them that they look underdressed.
i can definitely use the exercise and am physically still able to do the walk, so i want to enjoy it and not cab it. i don't own black sneakers and don't want to buy them for just one night--although that was a great suggestion!
ahhhhhh what to do!! i don't want to pull the pregnancy card and wear sneakers, but maybe that's smartest at this point. it'll just kill my pride!

ITA. That changes my answer to jeans and dressy shoes.
Wear what you can wear and is comfortable. I had very swollen feet when PG. I could not wear anything but flip flops.

Or why not take the subway? I worked near Times Square and took the 1/9 from Penn to Times Square...

I'm old-school and hate when people go to the theatre too casual, but at 7-months pregnant you wear whatever is comfortable for you! I'd go rocking the sneakers (and I'd take a cab)!

Be comfy!! I wouldn't wear sneakers that looked like I was going to the gym, but there are comfy sneakers that are more shoe like, KWIM?

do you have a comfy pair of flats?
I have several pairs of neutral flats that can be dressed up or down....
I'm preggo too, and I would probably wear the sneakers to walk, and switch into the sandals at the last moment. Definitely don't wear anything that would make you uncomfy!

Wear the sneakers! I would not sweat it. Many people come to shows in t-shirts and jeans... it is nice to dress up, but really you're pregnant. you need to be comfrotable. i would wear sneakers and whatever else is comfy for you!

I would wear the shoes/sandels and tote the sneakers. That way if your feet start to bother you you have the back ups.
