my dh works for Cablevision, and some people tip him and some dont. Depends if your satisfied with the service he does. If he leaves a mess or not.

No but only b/c he was a tool and trashed our walls b/c he was lazy.
When the cable guy in stalled at our last house we tipped him. He was very clean and quick.

Ok. I'm not. He isn't doing anything special for us. They even changed my number and they weren't supposed to and I asked him if I could please have the number I need to straighten this out. He said, I will give you all that at the end Then I said can I just have it now and he said he will give it to me later

I did, but he did a great job, and we were chatting about how we both collect Cars (the Movie) cars for our kids. DS showed the installer some of his cars. 
As soon as the installer knew that I knew about computers, he didn't bug me about setting things up, etc. I told him I would take care of everything, and he was cool with that.
If he wasn't so personable, and did such a good job, I wouldn't automatically tip them.

My verizon installer was super hot, looked really good in his red FiOs shirt, took his time installing everything and he really knows how to handle his equipment. When he was done installing I gave him a nice tip in the bedroom 
Oh yea I guessed it helped that the installer was my DH

- told me he'd put the boxes in my closet, then didn't
- left large, unplugged holes in my walls
- strung white wires two inches above my baseboards on my professionally and freshly painted green walls?
- didn't set it up correctly so someone had to come back for another 6 hour appointment?
That installer?

Hells no. He spent the whole day trying to get with me and with that only installed one phone jack and didn't finish programming my video box so I had to have someone come back and finish the job. He followed me around all day bumming my cigarettes. If anything he owes me a pack. Def. no tip.
