adverse reaction to eyebrow wax

So I went and got my eyebrows waxed last night, and today they are really red and irritated. I have bumps all around my eyebrows and its really noticible. Usually I'll be red for a while, but never this many bumps like this.

I dont want to put makeup over it, figuring it will just irritate it.... do you think this is an allergic reaction? Would taking a benadryl make them go away any quicker or get less red? Also my right eye keeps twitching.. related I don't know - maybe I'm stressed that I'm all bumped out. Chat Icon

On a similar note, I guess it makes sense for me to switch to threading.... does anyone have any suggestions for a threading place in Lindenhurst/Babylon area?

Re: adverse reaction to eyebrow wax

This just happened to me last week. I went to a fancy spa to get an eyebrow wax, the lady did an amazing job and then two days later I get a GIANT zit right between my eyes. Ok, i chalk it up to coincidence. THEN, i start getting little pimples around the eyebrows. I knew it was a reaction. My left eye has been twitching too, but I didn't make that connection.

I just let it clear up on its own and am going to switch to tweezing or threading.

What did they put on AFTER they waxed?

If it was something oil based, that's probably what iritated your skin.

That's why I do threading. No chemicals.

Re: adverse reaction to eyebrow wax

The reaction has happened to me 2 or three times all at different places...I am told that it is because the wax is either old or too hot....it ***** though b/c you judge which place has good wax because I always go to nice places to get it done and it still happens there Chat Icon

Don't pick at them though, it makes them multiply I swear!

Re: adverse reaction to eyebrow wax

I don't know where you can get them threaded, however I have had the same reaction to waxing before. It usually means that who ever did it made the wax too hot and burnt your skin.
Put some ice on your brows it will help and kepp the make up off till it goes away.

HTH Feel better!

The same thing happened to me, and I went to a really good place. I don't do it anymore, I tweeze now.

Thanks everyone. It's finally starting to return to normal. I'm going to try out the threading.

I won't wax again after trying threading. No issues ever when I get them threaded!

Same here. After several attempts at waxing and consistently getting what looked like little white heads all around my eyebrows, I decided I would just tweeze............
