2.5-3 year sleep regression?? kinda long
DD has always been a decent sleeper. If she gave me a hard time going to bed it would be less than 10 minutes of whining and she would be asleep.
For the last month….I don't even know what is going on. She either screams and won't go to sleep and/or wakes up in the middle of the night and will scream until I go in her room.
I have never brought her in to my bed (I have no issues with people that do) and I don't want to start doing that.
She started doing better when I left her door open (has always slept with it closed). I put a gate in the doorway so she can't walk out and fall down the steps. It worked well, except she was up with every noise that she heard.
That stopped working. Now the door is open and she screams anyway.
I have run out of ideas. I go in there, tuck her back in, tell her I love her. I have sat on her floor until she falls asleep--she wakes up as soon as I walk out. I have let her CIO.
Is this common? Happen to anyone else?
If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
I am losing it over here!!

Re: 2.5-3 year sleep regression?? kinda long
Ill bump my post from 345 am last night. I feel your pain.
I took DD and DS to the dollar store tonight and we picked out a bunch of $1 toys. I let ds have one (he stayed in bed last night) and didn't let DD have one. I put them in a basket on her floor so she could see them and I told her if she stays in her bed tonight she can have one in the am.
She went to sleep without an issue tonight...not sure how the middle of the night will be.
We battled last night 2.5 hours to go to bed and 2 hours in the middle of the night.
Good luck!

Yes! My DS is acting similarly. He goes down pretty easily but 3-4 nights a week he wakes up in the middle of the night and screams his head off. If it's after 4:30, we bring him in our bed (I know - shame on us but neither one of us feels like dealing with it). If it's before that, we let him cry it out. I don't understand why he is waking up in the middle of the night. He used to sleep 8-10 hours, no problem. This has been going on since August now and it's really annoying.

SAME HERE! I never had a problem getting my child to sleep..ever. He would whine for a minute and then pass out and sleep for 12+ hours! The past few weeks he wakes up 2 or 3 times a night. I am beyond exhausted. I have no idea if its normal, i am just praying it stops soon.

Re: 2.5-3 year sleep regression?? kinda long
It's def. the age. SAme thing going on with my 2.5 yr old. Been waking at night (not everynight, but at least a couple times a week). Sometimes cant even fall back to sleep for a long time...he just lays there with his eyes open
He has been mentioning that there is a "ghost" in his room lately, and that there is one in his brothers' room. I don't know where he heard that word. Sometimes when he goes in for a nap, he asks that I put his light on.
It's the age that fears start

when she wakes do u ask her if she had a bad dream? Sounds like night terrors.. leaving the light on doesnt help?
I am so sorry you are going through this.

Are they still napping? When we cut out nap time bedtime was sooooo much easier.

Thanks for the support and the responses! I'm sorry to hear other moms going throughout the same thing, but it's nice to know I'm not alone!
She doesn't nap.
This week we made a sticker chart together and went out to buy stickers for her to earn. Been using this since Saturday and it has been successful!
She wakes up in the AM and the first thing she' says is "I earned a sticker for not crying!" She loves putting it on her chart (hung in her room by her bed). We walk about the chart every night during our bedtime routine.
We also have to leave the door "cracked open" as she says with a gate across the doorway.
Keeping my fingers crossed….
