Mirena?

Hey, I wasn't sure which board to put this question on, but this one seemed likely. Has anyone here used Mirena as birth control?

DH and I will very likely not have another child, but neither one of us want to have our options completely cut off. The pill and I do not agree, so my doctor thought this might be a good option.

If you have this, have you had any problems with it?

TIA for any information!

I've had it for almost 2 years. Absolutely LOVE it. Best BC ever for me. No side-effects, no AF Chat Icon We're undecided on a 3rd, so I will just have it taken out if we decide to have another one.

Thanks for the reply! I just got AF for the first time in months yesterday, and would like AF to go away again already (but I don't want to be pregnant again this soon)!

Re: Mirena?

someone else just asked this, Here was my reply:

I have Mirena and I think I am one of the few people who has had side effects. I am having it taken our next week, which stinks b/c its SO convenient.

Like the other girls said, its great, it cuts down on your period (i didn't have one for 6 months), no cramps, etc. My DH did feel the strings however but....

I keeled over about a month ago with a huge ovarian cyst and had to be hospitalized. It is a known side effect of the IUD . Most people won't feel them & they can go away on their own, BUT they can grow large & burst (as mine did). Not fun.... Not fun at all.
