I just want to thank you all
This has been the worst twelve hours of my life. It helps though to come on here and see all of the hugs, prayers, and support from everyone.
We decided to get another dog asap. Our house is so empty without her that I can't even bare to be here. We are getting a little girl shorkie who is 5 months old - and looks just like Molly.
My husband is a wreck. I am the weak one of the two but I have to be strong for him bc he saw it happen and can't get the visions out of his head. And, as much as I loved her....she was always his dog. They cuddled every single morning - she was truly his best friend.
He was the one who wanted to get another one asap - I think it will help ease the pain a little bit. I told him that no other dog will ever replace her in our hearts - and that we have enough room to love another puppy. We just need to fill this house.
Again, I can't thank you all enough for the FMs and kind words. You all are truly amazing.

It's a good idea. My mom lost her dog too this summer. She was sick and without notice had to put to sleep while at the vet. They got a little puppy 2 days later. They are very happy they did it. No she will never replace your other beloved dog.

Aww, Diana I think its great that your getting another doggie, and although this new dog could never replace Molly, she/he will bring more love to your home and to all of you!!

Lots of luck with the new puppy and sorry for your loss. I cant even imagine a day without my yorkie!

I think that you are amazing for being so self-less and pushing aside your pain to help comfort your DH.
I am so sorry for your loss...you clearly loved Molly so very much and she definitely will always hold a special place in your hearts. I hope that the new puppy helps to ease the hurt. I'm sure that the minute she gets a look at the three of you she will realize what a lucky pup she is to have found such a wonderful family.

Diana - when we lost Ebony last December - who had been my constant BF and copanion for over 11 years - I got another dog right away. I couldn't bear the empty house. So, I think you are doing the right thing for you guys.

thanks - i know. and, i think back to when you lost Eb. and crying about the pain you felt - confident that i wouldn't have to feel that pain for so many more years bc we still had so much time with Mols.
I just think it's such a shock too bc she just turned two. We were prepared to have her for so many more years and it got ripped from us.

when my younger sister's dog was hit and killed, she said she did not want another dog since she was going away to school. She still has such a void and once she gets an apt she will get a dog ASAP.
I think it helps to have another dog in the home.
