1st real pair of sneakers
Did you buy your dc a pair at Stride Rite or did you go with another brand? Of course I want what is best for my child's feet, but does Stride Rite really make a difference? If you did buy Stride Rite, how long did you keep buying Stride Rite, or was it just for the first pair? TIA

Re: 1st real pair of sneakers
Any shoe that I felt they were going to wear for a significant amount of time/get a lot of use out of/do a lot of walking in, I purchased from either stride rite or wantagh bootery, or nordstroms. For example - first walking shoe, sneakers, winter boots or every day shoe. However, if it is a holiday shoe or a sandal, I have purchased at payless.

Re: 1st real pair of sneakers
DDs first real shoes were the stride rite early walkers and pink chucks. Since then I've gotten at least 1 pair/season that's stride rite brand. I just got her New Balance sneakers- her first real athletic sneaker that aren't chucks (she's 2).
Zappos, Shoebuy.com and Shoes.com ALL sell stride rite brand for a much better price than a stride rite store. I took DD in, had her measured, and then ordered her stride rite shoes from shoes.com (free shipping, plus coupon code, plus the shoes were already 10-15$ cheaper than in store). I can't pass up a good deal!!!

Re: 1st real pair of sneakers
I've always gotten from stride rite outlet. DS needs wide shoes and the outlets is where I've been able to find the best prices. I was able to get a pair of nikes from bob's once. I tried buying from payless but the sneakers were ruined (sole coming apart from shoe, Velcro strap not sticking) within 3 months so now I only buy sandles or holiday shoes there.

1st real pair of sneakers
I bought DS 1 pair of Stride Rite sneakers which were great and fit well. Other than that I buy him pediped (this was also his 1st pair of sneakers) -- virtually every pair of sneakers he has had has been from pediped. They hold up fine and DS seems to like them because he never complains about his shoes -- the challenge of course is how fast his foot grows.
ETA: My logic for buying pediped is that they're approved by the American Podiatric Association to promote proper foot health. Plus they have cute styles!

DD's physical therapist suggested either stride rite or pediped.
