What did you do for LO's First bday? Especially those winter babies who can't have BBQ/outdoor parties!

Re: 1st bday

we had DS 1st birthday at Jackie Reilly's in Bethpage, since I did not want to host so many people at our house. We were really pleased with everything and price was great, we had about 50 people. We hired entertainment to come for an hour and a half to keep the kids entertained (I had cookie monster come and they played games, did a magic show).

im planning this now (dds birthday is in February)
our guest list is close to 60 people so our only option is a restaurant. we are looking in queens and planning a brunch to save some money. i do not plan on hiring entertainment because there will be maybe 4 kids there (including dd)...itll just be a sit down brunch for family

DS is February too.... I just can't see spending a ton of money on it. I also think it is too many people for the house cause all our close friends have 2 kids or I would just do a pizza party at the house

We live in an apt so my parents volunteered their house for DS's bday. Nothing crazy, but it will be fun to get everyone together. Plus DS has about 20 minutes of sitting in a restaurant before he goes nuts, so restaurants were out for us. He needs to be able to move around and play.

DD's 1st bday party is next week and I'm so anxious. We wanted a smallish restaurant thing, but next thing you know, we rented out an entire restaurant and are having 68 adults and 19 kids. oy vey!

If you can go small, do it. This ended up being a very expensive bday party for someone who won't even remember it!

ETA: for details, it's a sit down lunch and then we are having a musician to entertain the kiddos for an hour.

I rented our local town recreation center and had food catered and hired clowns for the kids, I used Professional Kids Entertainment - they did a magic show, balloon animals, danced, face painting and made cotton candy. Big Hit!

1st bday

We rented the VFW hall in our town, got food catered (did heros and pizza), and entertainment (Elmo and a party entertainer)- we used Legendary Entertainment, a vendor on here.
I went all out for his first, but from now its just small parties! It adds up quick!

Re: 1st bday

We were inviting more kids (and people!) than my house could hold, so we did it at White Post Farms.

Still on the fence.

Having it at home...just not sure who I am inviting yet. I want to have some friends but they all have had more kids since my twins were 1 and it may be tight space wise.

May have the fun bus come as an outlet for the kids for a bit

1st bday

We just had grandparents, our siblings and godparents over to the house...had pizza and cake. It was perfect. We are doing the same this year for the 2nd bday.

I refuse to spend money on a party. I'd rather put that money in DS bank account for his future.

1st bday

DS is a winter bday...i didn't want a ton of people in my house and didn't want to spend a lot of $$ on a party so we just had immediate family over (6 people) and did pizza and cake. It was perfect and he still had a lot of fun :)

ETA: we also decided to go on a big vacation a couple of months later instead of spending the $ on a party

1st bday

We just had a DD's 1st birthday party at our house yesterday (which was her actual birthday). It was a fiesta themed party. We didn't want a huge party that cost a ton of $$$, so we kept it fairly small (25 people or so, I wanted less, but that was about the smallest I could get it) and made all the food ourselves. Sometimes I know that can actually be more expensive, but we did crock pot chicken and crock pot steak tacos and crock pot refried beans. It was super easy and fairly cheap!
