I remember they did the a/c test on Mythbusters. I didn't know about the paper bags vs. plastic bags though!

I find the paper vs plastic very very hard to believe. Paper bags could be bulkier in a landfill BUT at least they eventually degrade, unlike plastic. I will never buy this arguement in this article re the bags.

Plastic bags also begin to emit harmful toxins when they start to degrade. And they take forever to degrade as oposed to paper. Paper is still better than plastic IMO.

I agree. Plus you can put them in with your paper recycling. People are more apt to do that than bring their used plastic bags back to the store.
ETA: just use reusable ones!
