1 week pp- C-Section Mamas

Hi all. DD was born on February 28th via un-planned C-Section. Just a few questions I thought you might be able to provide your experiences with.....My pp bleeding was EXTREMELY light....I mean, barely anything, and I stopped wearing a pad probably after 4 days. Is this normal? I kept hearing how bad pp bleeding was and mine was nothing. I know I shouldn't complain, but just curious.

Also, my pp swelling in my legs and feet have been TERRIBLE. Its finally starting to come down, but how long were you really swollen for? My feet and ankles looked like elephant feet and ankles.....couldnt find my ankle if I wanted to!

While I have some incisional pain (it luckily has not been terrible, but definitely uncomfortable), I find that when I go to the bathroom to pee, it hurts -- not like a UTI type of hurt, but like an internal ache/pain in my stomach --- any thoughts on if this is normal and if so, how long before it went away?

Thanks!!!

All normal.

When they open you up, they clean you out too so you don't bleed as much as someone who delivers vaginally. Try drinking a lot of water and keep your feet up when you can. The swelling will go down, but if it doesn't stat to go down in a few more days, then I'd give your doctor a call. Same for the urination - I'm assuming you had a catheter? If so, you could be feeling residual pain from the catheter.

All sounds normal.

I remember one day just looking at my feet and they were normal! I was so excited! I tried to keep them up as much as possible.

Definitely felt that pain when peeing. That also just stopped one day.

I had bad pp bleeding, almost as bad as when I had my first who was a vaginal delivery.

I bled A LOT with both of my C-sections but everyone is different. I was VERY, VERY swollen too (with both of my pregnancies) and thought it would never go away but around the 1 1/2 - 2 wk mark I started getting INSANE night sweats and literally sweated out 60 lbs of pregnancy weight gain and every ounce of swelling. It was CRAZY!!! The swelling will start to go down, give it a little more time. My abdomen and incision felt sore and uncomfortable too for a while, that's all normal. Your body had major surgery, it will take a little time before it feels normal down there again.Chat Icon

I had same exact experience. I ended up getting a bladder infection and my gyn had to prescribe antibiotics to treat if.

All normal. I also had some pain while urinating. Called my Dr and they said normal Told me to make sure I was drinking enough. Incision pain is normal and may last awhile. And my bleeding was also minimal. Not sure much if any after I left the hospital. Everyone was scaring me about the post partum bleeding lol Good luck with the rest of your recovery

I never bled too much, just like if I was having my period. The swelling is def normal, but it can take a while, it took me like 2 months for the swelling to completely disappear. The discomfort u feel when peeing is normal too, I felt it especially when I was almost done peeing, and will disappear with time.

definitely normal. I delivered my first vaginally and had terrible PP bleeding for weeks even and I was really surprised when after my 2nd (c section), my bleeding wasn't as bad, it was almost like a regular period for me. I def was swollen for a while, I think its because of the IV fluids that were in me. I want to say the swelling went down after 2 weeks.
