C-section and NST the week before??
Im confused why I have an NST next week at 38 weeks and I have a c-section the following week, why does it matter if im having contraction when im full term and having a c-section anyway? I can see if I were having a vaginal delivery but im not....they are expensive and I just had one 2 weeks ago, can I 'opt-out'?

NST is more than contraction monitoring. It monitors the baby as well.

Even though I just had an ultrasound yesterday and OB looked at everything and took measurments and said he was very impressed with his tone, breathing and swallowing practices and that he looked great?

i had a NST and sono every week from 32 weeks on. it isnt about contractions, its about monitoring the baby for movement, activity etc.
i'm sure you can probably decline it. they cannot force you into a test if you do not want it - especially since you are paying OOP.

Re: C-section and NST the week before??
I don't get it either. Even with all my pre-term labor issues, I never had an NST. In fact, I had to look up what it was to be able to reply to you.
This is what I found:
Why would a NST be performed?
A NST may be performed if: You sense that the baby is not moving as frequently as usual You are overdue There is any reason to suspect that the placenta is not functioning adequately You are high risk for any other reason
The test can indicate if the baby is not receiving enough oxygen because of placental or umbilical cord problems; it can also indicate other types of fetal distress.
I don't know your exact situation, but it's not like it's a test that everyone has done. I see a peri-natologist each week and will see him on Monday before my Wednesday c-section. I've never had an NST. They've done the sonos to check the blood flow, umbilical flow, etc., but never an NST.
Good luck! If you don't fall into the above categories, I would call and check on the necessity of it, too. Especially if it's out of pocket. Let us know what happens.
