1 nap question- need feedback

Okay so this past weekend we tried to transition jacen to 1 nap a day.

The first day he did great and took a 3 hour nap. Chat Icon

But that hasn't happened since. The next day it was 2 hours and now it's maybe an hour and a half. I know he's not getting enough sleep during the day.

The thing is he usually ends up falling asleep around 10:30-11 if he's in the car. I feel like this ends up messing up his 1 nap and then won't go down at the normal 12:30-1pm time.

Also the past few nights he's been waking up at night. Nothing major. Just cries for like 2 minutes- if that.

Does this mean he's not ready for just 1 nap and still needs 2?

Re: 1 nap question- need feedback

It may be that he still needs two naps. My son took two naps until he was about 13/14 months and even now once in awhile will still needs two naps (at 18 months). If you find that you can still give him 2 naps and he's still going to bed around the same time, maybe try transitioning to the one nap in another month or so.

Re: 1 nap question- need feedback

I thought we were down to one nap and now DD's back to taking two. I'm kind of just going with it.
If she does take one nap, its consistently been 2.5-3 hrs.

i would think he's probably not ready for one nap yetChat Icon

DS takes 2 naps--one at 9:30 and one at 2:30 and goes to bed around 8. he sleeps 1-2 hours each nap and sleeps until about 7:30 every morning. since it's working for him, i'm not going to change anything yet

Re: 1 nap question- need feedback

My DS went back and forth at first. It seemed like on the days he woke up on the early side- he also needed a morning nap.

Now, at 18 months, he is consistently 1 nap a day. It is usually from 1-3 or sometimes longer.

I would try putting him down when you see how tired/cranky he is, may be some time before he falls into a regular once a day napper
