1 Hour Glucose Test Question
I scheduled my glucose test to take during my lunch break. Is that smart b/c I heard some people don't feel well after the test. My Doc office is across the street from my office so I was told to drink it an hour b4 my appt then come in for the blood test. Will I be ok to work after?

Mine was scheduled for first thing in the morning, I went to work after. Once I ate something, I felt better.

I was totally and completely fine -
I took mine after work at like, 8 PM -
And then went home and had dinner.
And the stuff is NOT even close to as bad as people make it out to be -
It's like extra sugary gatorade, and it's a small cup -

oh - i agree, it didn't taste bad at ALL. It tasted like flat orange soda...i was surprised...but i did feel horrible after...(sleepy and naseaus).

Wow, yours was in a small cup? Lucky you! Mine was in a bottle that was about the size of a medium water bottle.

Everyone reacts differently to this test. I was fine until afterwards-----I was lying down on the monitor and the room starting spinning and I threw up. My IL's took me to IHOP for pancakes after that and I was fine, but I was also glad I took the day off from work.

mine was just over a full styrofoam cup (they poured in barely a 1/4 cup after i finished the full cup)...the size of the smallest water bottle i've seen in stores.

same here... they gave a small bottle and I was told to only drink half
I guess it's true when they say all Drs. are different. I had to drink the entire thing and was told I could not take more than 5 minutes to drink it.

I think you will be fine. Just after the test make sure you eat something that can absorb all that sugar i did that for both the 1 hr and 3hr and felt fine after. I did have to drink the mix in 5 min and couldnt even leave the office while i was drinking and they drew blood 45 min later.
