3 hour glucose test question

I passed my 1 hour, but my sister wasn't so lucky! She just found out she failed and now has to go for the 3 hour test.
What exactly is the 3 hour test like? Are you stuck at the lab the whole time? Do you have to drink more of that stuff?
If anyone can give me info for her, that would be great! TIA!!

I believe they take your blood before hand, then have you drink the drink, stay there the whole time with no other food or drink, then take your blood again.

I had to fast from 12am and go for the test in the AM they took my blood then I drank that nasty drink and after that evry hr for 3 hrs they took my blood. And I wasnt allowed to leave

i was told not to eat 10 hrs before the test... then like the other ladies said, you go, give blood, drink the drink, then have to give blood every hour after that- so 4 times total- YUCK! my MIL and SIL came and kept me company- we played scrabble, so the time went pretty quick- i would have been bored out of my mind with out them!

Also instead of 50 mlg of the drink you have to drink 100. yuck

You are stuck there the whole time, tell her to bring her ipod, magazines, a dvd player whatever to keep herself busy. Oh and I know at the lab I went to you had to call and make an appt. THey take your blood 4 times, once in the beginning, then you drink the orange stuff and then once every hour.

Oh yeah and I had to fast past 10pm I think...The drink was the same exact one that I had during the 1 hour I dont think it was any different.

I failed my 1 hour and went yesterday for my 3 hour test...

I couldn't eat anything after midnight and I had to be at Enzo labs by 7am, still fasting...

they took fasting blood when I got there, drank the drink in 5 minutes, it had more sugar then for the 1 hr. then every hr, for 3hrs. they took blood from me.

I had to stay at the lab, they did allow me to go into my car and close my eyes alittle, the lab had no TV and the chairs were sooo uncomfortable. I was EXHAUSTED after drinking that sugary drink and the tech said that it can happen, and some people actually throw up from it,...

I did mine at ENZO labs and they let me leave as long as I came back each hour to draw blood. Just make sure you return before the hour is up otherwise you will have to start the test over on another day.

You really shouldn't leave since activity can change your results.

I failed my one hour but passed my 3 hour - You fast overnight - and go to the lab/office and they give you a drink - (same drink as for the one hour but more of it) and then they draw your blood 4 times -once before you drink then once every hour - for 3 hours. Bring a good book and something to eat like a bar and a drink for after the test - in case you don't feel so good after. The test is really nothing but it IS boring.
