Nah. I don't think so. We were "outed" at about 9.5 weeks. We told DH's family right before 12 weeks as well.

We pretty much told people right away...we're too close with DH's family that they'd notice any peculiar behavior...food aversions, vomiting...things like that. Besides, for my first appt., I need MIL to watch our 5 year old so they needed to not be in the dark.

Maybe tell just a few people to be on the safe side...this is a personal choice and if you are ready now, announce it. If you aren't ready to announce it yet, just wait. With my daughter, I didn't tell a soul for 3 months.

I know a lot of people who did not make it to 10 weeks, even if they wanted to. They were too excited!

We told our parents and siblings at 5 wks. (Except for my SIL, who guessed I was PG on the day I got my BFP.) The rest of the family and work once I had hit 12 wks.

Close family and friends knew right away as we did IVF. They knew we were undergoing the procedure as I needed my MIL's help when I was on bedrest.

All others I had to tell at 8 weeks because I was showing by then.

Re: Is 10 weeks too early. . .

I announced at 8 weeks and lost the baby at 11 weeks (2 weeks ago) and it was difficult. I was glad my family knew because I had tons of support but I wouldn't go "public" until after 12 weeks. JMHO. I was the youngest "kid" (25) in my family, cousins and all included. There hadn't even been a wedding in 20 years. It was VERY exciting for everyone and I am sure your family will be thrilled. Good luck, don't get ahead of yourself, one day at a time, feel good, and oh yeah...

Re: Is 10 weeks too early. . .

We told very early (about 6 weeks) and I miscarried at 9 weeks. Honestly, it didn't bother me that people knew. The outpouring of support was amazing, and something I will never, ever forget. My coworkers went above and beyond to make sure I was okay.

How early you tell is all about your comfort level with people knowing your "business".

I told our parents, siblings and best friends right away (because if I was to m/c I would need to talk to someone), however I didn't tell any other friends or family until 13 weeks.

I told my family at 6 weeks. I couldn't wait any longer. I haven't told my friends yet, though. (A lot of my friends work at the same place I do, so I decided to keep things quiet for a while. I will probably tell older friends -- high school, college, former colleagues -- pretty soon.)

Re: Is 10 weeks too early. . .

I think my whole neighborhood knew before I was even late on my period. I got a BFP 2 days before AF was due. Told immediately, and the news spread like wildfire.

I don't want to tell anyone now (5 weeks) because I feel like if I tell ANYone, then EVERYone will know. It's been so hard to keep it in & it's only been 4 days since I got my bfp but I think xmas will be the perfect time.

We wanted to keep things quiet for a bit as well, so we made it clear to our parents that we were telling them, but asked that they not tell anyone until we were ok with it.
They agreed and complied.
The first few months were a little rough on me, and having people there to help helped me a lot!

Re: Is 10 weeks too early. . .

we waited until 12-13 weeks to tell family (a few friends knew before), only because I knew that both our mothers cannot stay quiet. I'm also a pretty private person.

I had to tell work earlier, because there were a few things that I couldn't do and I had no choice.

This time I will be 10 weeks at Thanksgiving and I think I'm going to wait until 12 weeks again. Especially since I've been spotting a little bit for a week. But that's just me.
