Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
I think it is totally inappropriate attire. Especially if you are in a house of worship, no matter what religion. And yes, it is the bride's day, do NOT try to steal the show!!

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
one of DH's friends brought a girl he had just started dating to our wedding and she came barely dressed! she was wearing a mid thigh backless black dress and it had a lace overlay!!! my little sister was so upset for me that she wanted to go to their table and tell her to cover up! i told her not to worry about it, just to make sure she didnt show up anywhere on our video or pics!!!

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
One of my biggest pet peeves in life.
So many people no longer dress appropriately for weddings AND funerals.
At my BF wedding I was MOH. As I was walking down the aisle I almost STOPPED when I saw one of her relatives was in old jeans and a work shirt Even if you have no money, borrow an outfit or go to Goodwill and get something

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
yeah, i have been noticing that, when i go to the church for ceremonies, people wear like sweats, i think its totally inappropriate, and then they dress up for the reception, but personally i think its just not right to show up to the house of worship in your sweats,

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
Personally, I wouldn't care if people wore those dresses to my wedding. If that's what's in style, I would assume that I would be seeing it at any chance they had to get dressed up.

I have to say, most of the time I go to the church dressed much more casually then when I'm going to the reception. I almost always go home and change after the ceremony.
Granted, I wouldn't have worn my old work shirt, but what if this person was coming from work, wanted to make the church, and then was going home to change?

He was an out of town guest. The wedding was at a top hotel in Boston (reception immediately following) and he really looked like he just got off of a motorcycle. No offense to the bikers out there but unless it's a Hell's Angel's wedding it is NOT appropriate in my book.
Even when it's at a church hours before I still get dressed up. The ceremony is the actual wedding and, especially if it's in a house of worship, I think it's disrespectful to the bride, groom and God not to be dressed appropriate.
Call me old fashioned if you want.

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
Some woman wore a Tangerine colored, tight fitting, cleavage showing number to my wedding. She had painted her nails to match the color of the dress. My FIL thought she was "hired" for the evening!

Same thing at ours, except the dress was red. Guests talked about her for weeks afterward...and not in a good way.

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
i went to a wedding a few weeks ago. there was a girl in her 20's and she was wearing a leopard print dress with a big red pleather belt around her waist and red pleather high heels.
she looked like a hooker rather than a guest.

no one dressed like that at my wedding. IMO, it's not "people today". it depends on the person and how they normally dress.

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
Yup, I've been to a wedding where I've seen girls dressed like that...........and they also make themselves look like "ho-bags" on the dancefloor....all up on each other and ****. Its funny to watch as you see other guests look at them in disgust.
They easily forget what type of event they are attending. I guess to them it doesnt matter, what matters is "me, me, me" and "who can look at me".

My Momma always says "Worry about YOURSELF" - and I was dressed just fine.

Re: Inappropriate (!) outfits for weddings
This is a picture of some shoes I saw on a gal at a wedding I went to last year in NJ. Everyone looked great, but this one gal stood out. She had on a black dress that wasn't horrible, a little dated, but not slutty-riffic or anything, but these shoes were such a hoot. I put my camera to the side and snuck a pic! It was just too funny!
