Re: Anyone elses DH

I've been mentioning it to him. We both want children, but are afraid of the life change it brings. Also we just got married so we want to enjoy this time. Last weekend at a wedding he said he would have a baby with me whenever I wanted, even now, but he was drinking and the next day retracted that promise Chat Icon

The idea of having a baby is growing on him. Im sure that when he is finally ready I will be the one to panic and have second thoughts

Need a bit of a push when it comes to being ready to TTC?
I've been ready for well over a year and he's finally agreed to start in the new year. I already came off my BC last week...I didn't mention to him and I feel a tad guilty. He does want to have one.. he got the "Expectent Father" book on his own. He just gets so worked up... I think it would be better for him if it was a surprise. I'd hate for both us to be getting nutty about TTC...

Not for nothing- but I think you and your DH should be on the same page when it comes to TTC. If he's not ready he may resent you for getting pregnant on purpose without him knowing. This is a huge deal- one that will change BOTH of your lives.

ITA....please think about this.....if he has agreed to start ttc in the new year he thinks that you both have openly communicated and agreed to this....I would think that your DH might be upset or feel that you were dishonest

Re: Anyone elses DH

Before we had my son - and I wanted to get pregnant the first time around - DH would go back and forth. Some days he wanted a baby - other times he wanted to wait.

Even throughout my pregnancy he wasn't as into it as I wanted him to be (I then found out that none of them are) -- but the second we had my son my husband turned into the most amazing father ever!

I appreciate you input and I thought very long and hard about this before I went off BC. Chat Icon
The way my husband works we are both better off. We actually did talk about me coming off of BC and I said I wanted to now and he said why are you asking me you are going to do it anyway. So he kinda knows. If I waited until he was ready I'd be 60. Yet he already has the elementry school picked out.

i think my DH would get suspicious from me wanting to BD every day around my O time. Chat Icon We BD'd 8 days in a row this month...i think before TTC we had an average sex life, but 8 days in a row was rare!

I am concerned by this as well....

DH & I disagreed about when to start trying too... He wanted to wait - and i wanted to start earlier. I finally sat down with him, with a TON of research and told him the cold, hard facts. I was on birth control for 12 years and it would NOT be an immediate thing...(he thought, you have sex and BOOM, you're pregnant)...

He asked me for time to think about it and called me the next morning at work and said, 'let's start'. It's now 7 months later and boy am I glad we started then....but i am also 100% glad we spoke about it.

He said he gained a whole new level of respect for me because of the way i went about it...that i didn't just get upset and be mean, but gave him 'facts' to consider, and was very passionate in what i said, but was careful to NOT put pressure on him.

This is one decision in life that HAS to be a joint decision....please, talk to your DH now...
