I think there are people out there that are like that - but usually its because they are very insecure, and they'd rather point out other peolpe's flaws than have people notice theirs...

It isn't you. People tend to suck. It is best when you find the nice ones and make them your friends. Also, keeping the nice ones close to you is important.

i guess it depends on where youre talking about. On here, i dont notice much of what you mentioned, though i do notice that alot IRL. On here, i think people are ripped apart for different reasons (meaning, there's almost like an unspoken rule of not saying anything about people's kids, clothing, etc), BUT there's alot of 'calling people out on what they've said in the past'. Like the ones who post about having no money, and then post pics of (expensive) things theyre going to buy... i cant say i necessarily disagree with it, although some of it could probably go unspoken. I think that since so many people are 'here' everyday, it goes through cycles of people getting annoyed with each other, etc...

I've always found this to be very odd.

it really makes me so upset when people do that ... and then i try to turn the convo around and they bring it right back to the negative... sometime just to shut them up i will agree with them and it makes me so upset that i went down to thier level just to make the convo go away

My impression of your question prompted something else - the shows that DH likes to watch mostly have to do with taking shots at others.
Ever see Best Week Ever on VH1? It's one big mockery from start to finish. I admit, some of it is funny. But I started noticing that it's a form of entertainment, even when it's supposed to be laced with intelligence and dicussion, like on Real Time with Bill Maher.
With individuals, I do think the more extreme cases are people who may be unsatisfied with themselves. So they focus their (negative) attention on someone else to avoid dealing with their own issues. Or to make themselves feel better.
I always say, if people criticized and analyzed themselves as much as they do others, there would be nicer people in the world. 
There are people I can avoid or ignore who are too negative or selfish for my tastes. But the source of a lot of that is in my own family so although I try not to jump on that bandwagon as much as I did in the past, it's hard to deal with since my family isn't going anywhere.

If guys rip on each other, we either try to one-up them, so it becomes a challenge (which we're fine with), or we're like "Yeah, you're right", or "Oh, that's a good one. You got me good!", etc. We just don't look too deep into it, or linger on it.
