Re: Anyone work in the city?

I am almost 37 weeks and still commuting on the LIRR and subway.

I have never been knocked down pre-pregnancy and the thought never really corssed my mind now. I am just extra careful and if a platform is really crowded, I stand back and wait for the next train. I also leave in plenty of time so I don't have to rush.

ETA: I have been keepng track of how many times I get offered a seat....I am due in 3 weeks and as of today I have been offered a seat 6 times during this pregnancy and 4 of the times a woman offered me the seat. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone work in the city?

I commute on the LIRR and subway. People are very rude. Some guy almost knocked me over to get a seat the other morning. I asked my seatmate what the deal was and he said it is a point system. Pregnant women and old ladies gain you the most points Chat Icon

I want to work up until my due date but I don't think I am going to me able to do it. At 22 weeks the stairs in Penn and on the subway are already killing me!

Re: Anyone work in the city?

I only got knocked hard once and my back hurt all day. Other than that it's been OK besides the rude old banker-type men who NEVER offer up a seat!

Re: Anyone work in the city?

I took the subway to the hospital while in labor to deliver my baby. I rode the subway my entire pregnancy and even posted that the people on the 7 and 6 trains were so nice - I ALWAYS got a seat.

Sorry to hear you're having a different experience.Chat Icon

Re: Anyone work in the city?

I worked in the city and on crowded trains up til a month before I was due. I stayed clear of standing near the ledge and I always wore sneakers/flats.

Re: Anyone work in the city?

i commuted via subway into the city my entire pregnancy (until 39 weeks) Yes, people are rude and obnoxious...just take it slow and you'll be ok. And if your are not feeling weel...don't be afraid to ask people if you could sit. That's what those priority seats are for on the end. Chat Icon
