		| | Advice needed w/picture so this is our 3rd child but our first 2 never had their own nursery before so I am very excited that this baby will have her own roomImage Attachment(s):
so this is the crib and changing table/dresser combo I want
the crib is $369.99 and the combo unit is $300
my mom thinks the combo unit is a waste of $$ since this is our last child and we will only be using it for 2 years and then we will need to get another dresser..............if this is the case I would get a DIFFERENT CRIB THEN (LESS EXPENSIVE) and a regular dresser

 what would you do??
I should add we have a lot of projects going on right now and my 2 other daughters just got their own rooms and my 5 yr old need a bed mattress and boxspring and I probably should be trying to save as much $$ as I can
BUT I REALLY LOVE THIS SET

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture Does the bed convert into a twin bed? My nephew's did and he used it up until now when my sister needed it for the new baby. Also you can still use the changing table/dresser when they get older just try to find a bed to match.
Last but not least you can always sell it on craigslist when the baby is done with it to buy the new bedroom set.

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture Can the crib be converted after? The dresser can definitely be used for years to come so it is worth the investment. We bought furniture that we knew the baby could use for many years.
We spent the same amount so I say go for it.

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture its a hard thing...I am not going to buy it. Maybe i will regret it..who knows..but what i do know is that not enough people will ever see my baby's nursery to justify it.
I am just going to get a quality dresser and go cheap on the crib. I am also going to skip the bedding..I want breathable bumpers, and won't use the crib comforter, so no use spending on that.

good luck with whatever you choose

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture If you love it than I say go for it. And not to sound like a brat or anything, but $300 isn't that much money when you think about it- especially for something you really love. |

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture I always say you have to get what you love because otherwise you won't be 100% happy...especially since this is the first nursery for one of your children. The only thing that I'd consider is if the crib can be converted later like the others have said. |

		| | Re: Advice needed w/picture I have a combo unit and I dont think it is a waste at all. The pad comes off and could be used for books or displays. I like the way it looks without the pad. I like the furniture you picked out also. I wanted to add that my crib does convert. Message edited 8/23/2006 8:02:56 AM. |

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture I don't think the combo unit is a waste at all. You can always use the part that is not a drawer for storage, or put a bar in there to have some hanging storage.
Most sets offer a double dresser instead of the combo, which is what I went with. Maybe you can see if this set offers that.

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture I would skip the combo unit and get somekind of dresser that could be used once the baby is older. That's what we did - we found a crib, changing table/dresser and tall chest for a great price at BBB. |

I think $300 is a lot, so I would keep looking if you have the time. If you have the extra money then go for it, but there might be other things you want more. I would get it is the crib is convertible.

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture I have that crib, dresser and the armoire. I lovethe crib mostly because it does go into a toddler bed and a full size bed as well. We are using the dresser in my daughters room (she is 10) and it fits all her clothes just fine, we use the door side for sweaters and shirts. I was skeptical over getting it for the same reasons you stated but once I did get it I was very happy. Message edited 8/24/2006 10:06:10 AM. |

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture I have that same dresser but in the cherry finish and the only complaint I have is that it has a little bit of scratches up where the changing pad is because it is a soft wood. However that wouldn't be so noticable in the light color and I can't complain because I think I got it for like $70 or something on MAJOR clearance and with some coupons.
I plan on keeping the dresser for years even though it is a changing table combo. We'll just put her jewlery box and some knick-knacks on the top when it is no longer used as a changing table.

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture Why can't you use the dresser in the "big kid" room? It is a beautiful set. I have a similar set but did not get the top unit for the dresser since Molly's room is small. I knew it would be too overpowering. You can add the "top" at a later date if you want. |

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture If you love the crib, get the crib, and then look for a nice big dresser that matches or compliments the wood style. Then you can get a changing pad to put on top for when you need, but then the dresser will be more function later in life. |

 | Re: Advice needed w/picture i have that crib from my first son I absolutely love it it does convert into a day bed and a full bed for when the baby gets older i think its a good investment we have it again for our second baby it is good quality took a beating from my son and its still going lol. as far as the dresser combo goes you can use it till there older i dont see why it would be a waste we are buying it for our daughter and plan on using it her room with the hutch as she is older |
