What are the stats re: TTC when you get above 30, 35, etc.

Anyone know?

Re: Girls 30+

I am 36. At my TTC appointment, my doctor told me that the chances of conception are 10% for each cycle and decrease as you get older. Some of the younger ladies have been told anywhere from 20-25%. I have been seeing my doctor for 15 years. He has no reason to be dishonest and he is not an alarmist. I trust what he says. However, I find great irony in that women over 35 have a great chance of having twins.

Re: Girls 30+

do you know at what age the percentage *statistically* starts to decline?

I am just curious-- at 31-- I am starting to feel my clock tick (louder and louder I might add), but it's really just not the right time, and nor can I forsee it being right for at least a year or two, for a variety of reasons.

Re: Girls 30+

I am 30 and I will be 31 when the 1st one comes! I already know that I want to have the 2nd before age 35 since thats when they say it becomes more difficult/more problems.. however, many ladies are having babies later than age 35 and are just fine!!

Re: Girls 30+

I think 35 is the age when docs tend to take more precautions, but that's based on an ave. menpause age and everyone will be different.

Don't rush just because of a number. I will be 32 when the kid is born. We could have tried earlier since we we've been in our 30's awhile and felt some pressure from that but we had to wait for the right time for us.

Also, IMO, if you workout, eat right, don't smoke, aren't overwieght, drink in moderation, etc, I think these factors have a lot if not more to do with TTC than just age. But I'm not a doc.

Re: Girls 30+

I will be 31 next month and DH is 32 and we would like to have two kids before age 35. I really would like to have them now and get it over with. Moreover we are both comfortable both finacially and emotionally. TTC to after age 35 can be very difficult for some people so I really do not want to wait that long.

Re: Girls 30+

Here is a link to an article that may help.

Age is a factor in conception despite the fact that many women over 35 have healthy pregnancies. There are risks in pregnancy as well. It stinks, but thats just the way it is.

To answer your question I believe that fertility starts to decrease at 27.

Re: Girls 30+

There is no "magic" number. The problem is that if you start when you are older and have issues then you may have a harder time as time goes on. I read an interesting book called The Infertility Cure. by Randine Lewis. It is a book based on Traditional Chinese medicine and it say that eggs don's age but your lifestyle can age your eggs. If you are at all into natural medicines I woudl recommend it. It addresses many issues not just infertility. GL!
