the avent bottles. If you have used them how are they? I am torn between gettng Dr. Brown or Avent. They seem to be the 2 best. I think I will also be pumping if that makes a difference.

Re: opinions on

I found the 8oz. Avents to be great for pumping into, considering I was like a freaking dairy queen and could fill those in minutes. But as far as feeding went, Ava would choke on the flow of the Avents too easily. YOu really need to see what the baby is like and what they can handle. HTH.

Re: opinions on

I didn't use both - only the Avent for both of my kids. I thought they were fine.

I had a similar experience with my son...he could not handle the flow of the Avent nipples. I used Playtex nursers.

Re: opinions on

I started out with the Avent and they were fine except they leak if the cap isn't screwed on just right. I went to the Dr. Brown's because I was hoping they would help her with her gas problem. I didn't really notice a difference with the gas. The problem with the Dr. Brown's is all the extra parts. I boil the inside parts every day because I don't feel like I can get them clean enough. It's a pain and you have to use the insides or they leak. I'm thinking about going back to the Avent bottles. Hope this helps.

Re: opinions on

If you are considering a pump, I don't recommend the Avent ones. I had the Avent Isis Duo and hated it. The "soft" petal insert took the skin on my nipple off! I didn't like setting the pace either. I ended up renting a Medela hospital grade pump. I would recommend Medela and I would wait until you see what your pumping needs may or may not be before you make a purchase. Used pumps can't be returned.

Re: opinions on

I only used the advents, DD had no problems with them from day 1. If you overtighten the cap it does leak, but we have mastered that.

I pumped for a little bit and used the medela PIS, and then poured the milk into the advent bottles and put them in the fridge.

I agree with Natay, wait on the pump until you find out what your needs are, i wound up HATING pumping and went strictly nursing, my pump was used less than 10 times and is all sterilized sitting in my DD's room.

Re: opinions on

i use only the avent bottles also and haven't had any problems. I couldnt' see cleaning all of those parts with the DB's.

I had the avent hand pump and electric pump and i honestly liked the hand one better except it wasn't good with my carpal tunnel.

Re: opinions on

Also an Avent user and love them... As other posters said... if you overtighten them they will leak...

DS had gas issued the I thought DB would fix but when I switched him (about 2 weeks) I saw no difference and he went back to the Avents
