Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
We need to get a fridge, dishwasher, oven (can't find just an oven to go under the stovetop so we will probably have to go for both) and microwave. Is $2,500 enough to budget?? I looked on Home Depot online and it looks like I can get all GE in this price range. Thanks!

It depends on what you are looking for. We got all 4 appliances for about $3000. We got all Stainless Steel Frigidaire and bought them through appliancesbuyphone.com so we saved about $1200. The appliances aren't top of the line but I also didn't get the lowest in the Fridgidaire line either.

It all depends on what you are looking for. We spent quite a bit on ours and we got all stainless steel appliances and top of the line. I am sure you can work with that amount.

My first reaction is no....you should really try and buy quality items and I just don't see getting all those things for $2,500. JMO.

if you want stainless, I would up that budget by about 500 to 750.

We got a new GE Profile convection oven/stove, a GE Profile refrigerator with bottom freezer and a Kenmore Elite dishwasher in January 2005 and we spent $4000. The stove/oven itself was close to $2000.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
Thanks. No, I am not doing stainless steel, black. I don't need the top of the line things either. I also don't want the cheapest though.

Of course you can, with money to spare! You can find a good fridge for about $800, oven for $500, microwave for $200, dishwasher for $250.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
We got a stove, microwave, dishwasher and fridge for $1500 all GE from PC Richards this past summer. We were limited in choice of refrigerators because we have limited space, so we have a no frills fridge...but it does the job! We didn't get top of the line, but I wouldn't consider GE the bottom of the barrel either. (oh yea..the appliances are l white)
I think you could find what you need for $2500.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
I think it wll all depend on the type/size refrigerator you will need. That will make or break you budget say if you need a 36" one.
otherwise you could do well with (black finish will definitely help): RF - $800-1500 DW - $300-400 range - $500-1000 microwave - $100
Also you can try to get multiple appliance discounts from PC Richards and sometimes Sears does this as well!

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
you can totally do that. Stainless Steel are way overpriced. We plan on doing basic white to cut costs.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
I am really not sure if you can get all that for $2500. what DH and I do when we buy high ticket items is finance for 12 months (or more) with no interest. IMO, it's a great way to get what you want without having to pay it all up front. I'm pretty sure that HD & Lowes has these payment plans available.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
PC Richards I think is having a HUGE appliance sale. It was advertised in Friday's Newday. Up to 75% off on some stuff.

Re: Is $2,500 enough for appliances?
Thanks everyone. We will have one lump sum of money to spend on the entire kitchen so I want to make sure that I have enough for everything. I'm sure if I shop around, I will find the price I am looking to spend and with all your suggestions, I think I should be ok. Let you know!
