Am I the only one....
That does not get offended by pregnancy comments?
I feel being pregnant is novel and temporary, so people get excited and can't help but notice your changing form. Its so fun and exciting - the weight will go away, and lets face it - eventually, especially after the baby is born, you are not going to get the same type of attention again!

thats what I'm thiniing - like, we were the sh!t the few days before we got married, and on our wedding day, and the day after we were married, we were just another married couple!
after the bay - we'll be "just another set of parents"
nows the time that everyone says -oooo - you're pregnant!!!

Re: Am I the only one....
I think the problem is not that people are noticing, it is that some people have no tact and say things like "Wow, you're HUGE!!"
Comments about a more pronounced bump don't bother me, but when I walk into work and someone says "Someone's getting really big" and makes a face, I get annoyed.

Re: Am I the only one....
I never got offended and I don't now, I know that people usually mean well in all their comments. They show attention because they care and want to show support, and some women, also moms are just comparing notes, sort of speak
I don't quite understand why it gets some people get so worked up when someone tells them they are starting to show, or not yet showing or that they gotten bigger...

Re: Am I the only one....
It took us so long to get pregnant that I can't wait for people to start to notice.
And I may take this back when I'm 9 months along and cranky, but I can't wait to have strangers touch my belly and make comments. I'm so excited to be able to tell people in the next couple of weeks.
I think we should all remember how lucky we are to be pregnant, because it doesn't happen easily and it doesn't happen for everyone and we should enjoy this special time.

When I was just a few months along I didn't mind either.
You may change your mind when it's the same people saying the same thing to you every single day. When you are feeling really $hitty and can barely pick up your legs because you have so much pressure on your pelvis, the last thing you want is someone telling you how HUGE you are or asking if you are carrying twins, when you are not.

Re: Am I the only one....
Im sorry I do a tad.
I told a customer I was pg....A man. Maybe its cause they dont get it....and cant say things properly but he came in and said,....Getting a little pudgy there! So I came back harshly with, Um, hello Im pg!!
He was LIke, I know...ur showing a bit!!
I was so mad! He probably didnt mean much by it but maybe because my belly isnt much right now and that I do feel like a fatty that it kind of bothered me. Then the touching of my belly...that already bothers me and honestlt there isnt much there yet so what are u rubbing? No genie is coming out!
Sorry!

The belly touching is the one thing I dread - I do not like anyone, other than my immediate family to touch me! I'm not even really showing yet & someone at work rubbed my belly today! I told her I would prefer if she didn't do that again in the future. She understood & wasn't offended (I said it tactfully) but I don't know if others will be so understanding.

It just amazes me how the boundaries of decent conversation seem to disappear once you are PG. Anything goes I guess

I am also dreading this. I give off a pretty strong FU vibe, so hopefully that will keep em away

I feel EXACTLY the same way...but then again it wasn't easy for us...

Aww sorry if it is rough for you. Its not liek that for everyone though, so lets not scare everyone into hating whats to come

Re: Am I the only one....
I don't think I've ever been offended.
Some people do make comments without thinking, I think, but most don't mean harm and I think people are genuinely excited and interested in pregnancies.
I missed it when it was over the last time and I'm sure I'll miss it again...

Re: Am I the only one....
I do not get insulted at all. Being a teacher, I hear comments all day long. I think people do not think sometimes before they talk.
It does not bother me one bit!!

This bothers me too. I don't mind the gushing over the baby belly, but it is the people with no tact that get to me. I also didn't mind it as much when I was earlier into my pregnancy.
