When do you start giving them cereal

Well I have so many questions for you ladies ..
My little Mariella is 2 months old I cant believe it ...

When do you start giving cereal and which one do you start with ?
Did you start putting it in the bottle ? or by spoon ?

Water ?

And when I came home from the hospital they were putting vaseline on my Lil DD bottom , I started putting Balmex ? what do you put ?

Any please if you have any thing to share please do so.

We just started at 4 and a half months.

We started with rice cereal and we have just now started introducing him to oatmeal cereal.

We don't use any cream unless he's got a diaper rash which he hasn't had yet.

I started Jordana on cereal at 5 months. I mixed it with Breastmilk. I started with organic rice cereal I forgot the brand- but it came with individually wrapped packages. I put it in a glass and mixed it with a spoon. I started it very liquidy and gradually increased the amount of cereal and decreased the amount of breast milk to make it more solid. Then I introduced barley cereal and then oatmeal.

I loved Balmex for DD's bottom. I used Desitin (it was OK), buttpaste (hate the smell) and Aveeno (don't love the consistency).

i only use vaseline, it's the only thing that keeps her bottom free of diaper rash.

We just started her on cereal at 6 months, PED goes by academy of pediatric recommedations. We just started her on oatmeal a week ago since she tends to get constipated easily.

DD takes the cereal, kinda thick too, right off the spoon

DD since on formula at 4 months has had watered down bottles, meaning 4 oz of formula, 1 ounce of water in each bottle.

I heard putting cereal in bottles is a big choking hazard

Most doctors say between 4-6 months. I started at 5 months.

We mixed the cereal with formula but you can mix it with breast milk as well. I started out liquidy at first too then made it more thicker.

Always start with a small amount of cereal first then increase it after a couple of days if the baby likes it and does not have any allergic reaction to it. I've been told to do that with any solids you introduce for the first time. Even with fruits, veggies or meats.

I've heard that you shouldn't put any kind of cereal in their bottles. Heard they can gag but then again if your baby has acid reflux then they recommend it so I don't know...I don't do it...

We started cereal at 3 months by spoon. We tried everything and oatmeal seemed to agree with her most. I started with one tablespoon, and made it very watery. now she's up to 4 tablespoons a day, two in the morning, two at dinner and she eats them very thick.
I never put vaseline on her once we got home from the hospital, just balmex.

I use Aquaphor and he has never had a rash.

why did you start this?

i have been reluctant to give DD straight water but ped said it may help her gas/tummy issues. i EBF for 3 months, once formula got introduced DD turned into one chunky monkey! i am considering watering down or giving water in between feedings, but have yet to do so ...

DD also doesn't consume THAT much per day, so i don't want to take away any nutrition...but she's turning into a ball

Well you already know but I will answer anyway...

Started your nephew on ceral the day he turned 3 months. We started with Rice cereal and then moved to oatmeal.

We mixed it in a bowl with the formula never used water. then fed it to him with a spoon.

We started cereal at 3.5 months. We started then because DS was not satisfied with BF or furmula. He was always hungry. He started on rice but I noticed he was getting a little constipated, so we switched to oatmeal and he was much better. Now that he is 6 months, I mix it up by giving him rice, oatmeal and barley. I mix the cereal with formula. We always use a spoon.

I started water with him around the same time but only 2oz. It helped with the constipation. Now that he is older, I give him 1oz pear juice mixed with 3 oz of water.

I only use A&D right after he has a bowel movement. Otherwise, I don't use anything at all.

Should fruit be mixed in with the cereal once you start them on it? I've heard that once you mix it with the fruit then they will always want it that way. That they won't want to eat just the plain cereal anymore.

Oh and once we have finished introducing all the cereals to him can we then give him stage 3 where all three are mixed together? Or just alternate between the three?

Did you start putting it in the bottle ? or by spoon ? We tried by spoon, but he hated cereal. So we put it in the bottle. He's fine with the fruits and vegetables off the spoon.

Water ? Rarely. Ped said he doesn't need it, but can get up to 4 oz a day if we want. My feeling is if he doesn't need it, then why?

I started my daughter on rice cereal at 5 months, with a spoon. We also started at that time with fruits and veggies too. I usually mixed it in with the cereal. She has that 2x a day, in addition to about 4 5-ounce bottles.

I haven't seen a need yet to give water. In another month or so I may introduce a sippy cup and put water in that.

I never use anything on their bottoms unless they have a rash. My 2-1/2 year old didn't have a diaper rash until just a month or two ago! And my baby has them all the time We use Triple Paste and it works wonders!
