1 yr old bloodwork
My pedi wrote us a script for a cbc at his 1yr visit... I REEEEEEEEALLY don't want to put him thru that yet, but on the other hand I think it's not a bad idea. Who else has done it at this time and - honestly - how bad was it?

My peds office does it at 2 y.o. (CBC and a lead test)-I took Jenna last week expecting a nightmare-lets just say I turned my head the other was and a few seconds later I hear her say "All done, no more" and I looked and the needle was out and the bloods were drawn----I was shocked!! Not even a whimper! I think I was more lightheaded afterwards from nerves-lol!

We did the CBC and lead at 15 months. Cole's had blood drawn at least 5 or 6 times and its always significantly worse for me than it is for him.

Julia will be 16 months on the 7th, and we just had her check up last weds, and her doctor told us she needs blood work done, I'm hoping it wont be a problem. I'm very nervous! I can't see it being easy to take blood from her at this age.....

WE had it done at 1 year. I was more anxious than anything. If you have a good phlebotomist, they will get it draw in no time and no problem. I brought a lollipop for him to suck on and we didn't even need to resort to it.

We had it done at 15 months (our ped said the lead test is required for the state). Just get a phlebotomist who is experienced with children and it shouldn't be so bad. We had one that tried three times and still didn't get it.  Another one came in, used his other arm and got it first try.

I got a script for it 2 weeks ago at her 1 year checkup and we've gone twice to the lab and they are always packed so I haven't done it yet. I need to call the doctor. I know part of me is being a wimp too, bt it just seems uncessesary and I don't want to sit in the lab with her for 2 hours waiting!

They will probably take you right away since you have a child. I know the place I went to did. I wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I went to Quest in Mineola. He didn't cry at all and it took like 30 seconds. He got a sticker that said "No tears today!"

The doctor asked if we wanted it done now. We asked if it could wait and she said we can do it at 15 months.
