Costs associated with delivery?
I am not pregnant, but plan on TTCing early next year. My company is having open enrollment, and I have to choose benefits for next year. One plan covers 80% of delivery and associated hospital costs with a $300 co-pay. The other covers 90% with a $250 co-pay. The cost for the first plan is $60/month for DH and me and the second is $120.
I am not sure which one to choose... I guess if we don't start TTCing till March or April the chances are pretty low I wold be delivering in 2007, but you never know...
Which option would you choose? Oh and the copay for prenatal visits is $15 for option 1 and $20 for option 2.

Re: Costs associated with delivery?
Im not sure if this will help but we just got our hospital bill...one was for anastesia (sp?) only and it was $6700 - granted I had a c/s. The other bill was for my stay at the hospital (again longer bc of the c/s) and included my meds, delivery room charges, etc and that was just under $20,000. Our copay was $250 - THANK GOD that's all!

That is great, luckily, my delivery co-pay is Zero so I will have no hospital bill....

Re: Costs associated with delivery?
WOW! I didn't realize it would cost so much.
Luckily, I have 90% coverage for delivery- with a $500 max per year for all medical expenses. So the max would be $500.

Re: Costs associated with delivery?
I would say option 2 but it would also depend on what plans these were. What is option 1 and option 2? If any are HIP I would go for something else. Empire seems to work great!

Re: Costs associated with delivery?
You also need to take into consideration the costs associated with the pregnancy. Lab work and sonograms are not necessarily covered by the basic plans. i've layed out almost 1000 over the past 5 months (i'm 21 weeks) just on regular stuff because my husband didn't sign up for the right package
