Re: Still napping in swing...

well DD is 6 and ahlf months, and most of her naps are inthe swing. I'm working on it, she is getting there. Porblem is DH is home with her during the day and he lets her nap in the swing, sooooo my 2 day a week just won't work if he doesn't cooperate!

So when you put her in the crib for a nap she goes to sleep no problem?

Re: Still napping in swing...

not consitently, I use CIO with her and going to sleep and it took 2 days. But DH is not consistent and it totally screws me up, he doesn't like to hear her cry. So my next step is to pack up the swing one day so he has now choice.

Have you tried CIO?

Yup, I try it all the time, sometimes I leave her in there literally SCREAMING for 1/2 hr and she may fall asleep but only for 1/2 hr or less. Most of the times she screams her head off, rolls around and bashes herself into the bumpers... I can't stand it anymore.

Then I put her in the swing and she falls asleep without a fight within minutes.

Re: Still napping in swing...

most of Ellie's are still in the swing at 4 mos, but just recently she has started falling asleep on her own in the pack n play. Still not the crib, but this new independence in the PNP impressed me and makes me think that she will eventually go down in the crib.

Sydney is 9 months and still naps in the swing sometimes. I keep saying to DH time to put it away and he keeps putting her in it!

I swore my baby would be sleeping in the swing forever!

I think when he started sleeping on his belly is when he started to outgrow the swing on his own. Iwould see him trying to turn on his side in the swing to sleep on his belly.

This prob happened around seven months.

I see her trying to do that sometimes but only when she doesn't want to nap at all...
She doesn't really sleep on her belly in the crib still I don't think...
I still feel like she will be in this thing until she breaks it.

Re: Still napping in swing...

does she sleep in the crib at night? If she does what is the hurt? My DD wouldnt sleep lying flat AT ALL until 5 1/2 and my ped said I had to get her out of the swing I was causing a bad habit but I dont see the harm if its just for naps they will either grow out of it or grow out of the swing right?

Yes, sleeps in her crib all night... there is no hurt for right now but I just wanted to transition her to the crib for naps before she outgrows the swing, I'm assuming it will be harder for her to make the switch as she gets older...

Re: Still napping in swing...

DS is exactly the same. He is 5 1/2 months and will only nap in the swing. He sleeps perfect in his crib at night, but will have nothing to do with the crib during the day. I try the crib for naps about once a week.

I'm just hoping that he will outgrow the swing soon, but for me, the naps are more important than him napping in the crib.

Sorry, no advice, but I feel your pain.

Re: Still napping in swing...

At 3 months, DD will only sleep in the crib- naptime & at night. I have tried so hard to get her in the crib but I think that I have given up for now. I have a feeling that 4 months from now I will still be struggling with this. Chat Icon
